2-Styrylchromones, although scarce in nature, constitute a group of oxygen heterocyclic compounds which have shown significant biological activities. New nitro-2-styrylchromones have been synthesised by the Baker-Venkataraman method, and the structure elucidation was accomplished using extensive 1D (1H, 13C) and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies (COSY, HSQC and HMBC experiments).

Sesquiterpenes and lignans from the branches and leaves of Wikstroemia micrantha.

Chem Biodivers

January 2025

Naval Medical University, Phytochemistry, No.325 Guohe Road, Not Available, 200433, Shanghai, CHINA.

One new Sesquiterpene wikstromicrol (1), one new lignan (7R, 8S, 8'S)-9-acetoxyl (-)-isolariciresinol (8), and twelve known compounds were isolated from the branches and leaves of Wikstroemia micrantha. The structures of new compounds were elucidated by extensive interpretation of spectroscopic data and quantum chemical calculations of ECD spectra. The bioactivity assay showed that compounds 6 and 7 had weak cytotoxicity against MCF-7, HCT-116, and HL-60 cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 33.

Background: Cholangiocarcinoma is a challenging malignancy with limited responses to conventional therapies, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are key components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) and have been implicated in the immune response to cancer. However, the role and difference of TLSs and TILs in patients with cholangiocarcinoma remains unclear.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a model eukaryotic organism with a rich history in research and industry, has become a pivotal tool for studying Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA (ADAR) enzymes despite lacking these enzymes endogenously. This chapter reviews the diverse methodologies harnessed using yeast to elucidate ADAR structure and function, emphasizing its role in advancing our understanding of RNA editing. Initially, Saccharomyces cerevisiae was instrumental in the high-yield purification of ADARs, addressing challenges associated with enzyme stability and activity in other systems.

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic periphyton responses to warming, nutrient enrichment and small omnivorous fish: a shallow lake mesocosms experiment.

Environ Res

January 2025

Key laboratory of Exploration and Utilization of Aquatic Genetic Resources of the Ministry of Education, Engineering Research Center of Environmental DNA and Ecological Water Health Assessment, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai 201306, China. Electronic address:

Global change stressors, including climate warming, eutrophication, and small-sized omnivorous fish, may exert interactive effects on the food webs and functioning of shallow lakes. Periphyton plays a central role in the primary production and nutrient cycling of shallow lakes but constitutes a complex community composed of eukaryotes and prokaryotes that may exhibit different responses to multiple environmental stressors with implications for the projections of the effects of global change on shallow lakes. We analyzed the effects of warming, nutrient enrichment, small omnivorous fish and their interactions on eukaryotic and prokaryotic periphyton structures in shallow lake mesocosms.

Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) can effectively attenuate heavy metal mobility in aquatic ecosystems and reduce metal toxicity to cells. However, a systematic study of microalgae EPS responses and their adsorption behaviors, characteristics, and mechanisms under different heavy metal exposures has not been performed. In this study, EPS extracted from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CC-125 was analyzed for compositional changes (monosaccharides and proteins) under Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn treatments.
