Female undergraduates performed an easy (fatigue low) or difficult (fatigue high) scanning task and then were presented mental arithmetic problems with instructions that they would earn a high or low chance of winning a prize if they did as well as or better than 50% of those who had performed previously. As expected, blood pressure responses in the second work period rose or tended to rise with fatigue where the chance of winning was high. By contrast, the responses tended weakly to decline with fatigue where the chance of winning was low. The pressure findings support the suggestion of a recent fatigue analysis that success importance should moderate fatigue influence on CV responses to a challenge so long as fatigued performers view success as possible. They also conceptually replicate previous fatigue results and provide a special class of evidence that fatigue influence on CV response is mediated by effort.

Purpose: A current challenge that may exacerbate symptoms of compassion fatigue and compromise the ability to experience compassion satisfaction among nurses is pain management. This study examined the associations between nurses' comfort with administering pain management, confidence in providers' prescribing patterns and reported compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue (measured as burnout and secondary traumatic stress).
Design: This exploratory study used a survey design to gather primary data from nurses via a convenience sampling method.

Mental fatigue is referred to as a psychophysiological or neurobiological state caused by prolonged periods of demanding cognitive activity. Sports and exercise science research have investigated the effects of experimentally induced mental fatigue on cognitive performance, with mixed results. It has been suggested that negative effects of mental fatigue on cognition performance in laboratory studies could translate to impaired sport performance.

A styrene-glycidylmethacrylate-1-allyl-3-vinylimidazole epoxy functionalized ionomer (EFI) was synthesized, and the EFI and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were co-introduced into poly(lactide)/poly(butylene-adipate-co-terephtalate) (PLA/PBAT) blends to fabricate high performance composites with excellent mechanical properties, fatigue-resistance and dielectric properties. It is revealed that EFI can improve the interaction force between PLA and PBAT by inducing the interfacial crosslink reaction, thereby improving the melt strength of the samples. EFI can also refine the dispersion of CNT in the composites owing to the non-covalent force between EFI and CNT, promote the formation of filler network inside composites, which is demonstrated by DMA and rheological test results.
