A novel approach to the asymmetric reduction of dihydro-beta-carboline derivatives to the corresponding tetrahydro-beta-carbolines is described based on the supramolecular lyophilized complex formed from beta-cyclodextrin/imines as an enzyme mimetic and palladium hydride as the reducing agent. The methodology allowed us to develop a short and efficient preparation of (R)-harmicine and (R)-deplancheine alkaloids in high overall yields and ee of 89 and 90%, respectively.

Total syntheses of the parvistemoline alkaloids enabled by stereocontrolled Ir/Pd-catalyzed allylic alkylation.

Nat Commun

Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Natural Medicines, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming, China.

The functionalized polycycle with densely contiguous tertiary stereocenters is a formidable challenge in synthesizing the parvistemoline family of Stemona alkaloids. We herein report their catalytic, asymmetric total syntheses in 13-14 steps from commercially available 2-(methoxycarbonyl)-pyrrole, featuring the development and deployment of an Ir/Pd-synergistically-catalyzed allylation of α-non-substituted keto esters with secondary aryl-substituted alcohols, stereodivergently accessible to four stereoisomers. Using chiral Pd-enolate and Ir π-allyl complex under neutral conditions, no epimerization occurs.

Bilateral Asymmetric Traumatic Dislocation of the Hip: Case Report.

Rev Bras Ortop (Sao Paulo)

November 2024

Departamento de Ortopedia e Traumatologia, Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Santa Maria, RS, Brasil.

Traumatic hip dislocations are serious traumas, the result of high-energy mechanisms, constituting one of the orthopedic emergencies. The epidemiology of asymmetric bilateral hip dislocation is an extremely rare orthopedic condition. Prompt diagnosis and urgent reduction are essential due to the high risk of future complications.

Pt single atoms promoting the construction of asymmetric double sites to achieve highly selective photoreduction of CO to ethylene.

In this work, Pt single atoms (SAs) were engineered on the surface of CdInS (CIS) to trigger abundant generation and stable existence of sulfur vacancies (S). Through quasi in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and work function analysis, the photogenerated electrons are first captured by Pt SAs and S, and then transferred from Pt SAs to S, ultimately increasing the electron density of S. Meanwhile, S have significant advantages in adsorbing CO molecules.

In the field of rehabilitation, although deep learning have been widely used in multitype gesture recognition via surface electromyography (sEMG), their higher algorithmic complexity often leads to low computationally inefficient, which compromise their practicality. To achieve more efficient multitype recognition, We propose the Residual-Inception-Efficient (RIE) model, which integrates Inception and efficient channel attention (ECA). The Inception, which is a multiscale fusion convolutional module, is adopted to enhance the ability to extract sEMG features.

Chiral diaryl alcohols, such as (4-chlorophenyl)(pyridin-2-yl)methanol, are important intermediates for pharmaceutical synthesis. However, using alcohol dehydrogenases (ADHs) in the asymmetric reduction of diaryl ketones to produce the corresponding alcohols is challenging due to steric hindrance in the substrate binding pockets of the enzymes. In this study, the steric hindrance of the ADH from Geotrichum candidum NBRC 4597 (G.
