This paper reports on the effect of random Gaussian roughness with rms roughness values of 5-20 microm on the terahertz reflection spectra of metallic aluminum surfaces using Fourier transform IR spectroscopy. By comparing experimental data with a theoretical model based on the Kirchhoff approximation, the rms roughness of a surface is accurately determined. The rms roughness determined by this method is in good agreement with the rms roughness measured using a stylus surface profilometer. In addition, we demonstrate that this method can be used to clearly resolve rough surfaces that differ in rms roughness by approximately 1 microm.

The development of a direct compression excipient with extended-release property is crucial for improving tablet manufacturing and drug delivery. This research focuses on developing a novel co-processed excipient composed of rice starch (RS), methylcellulose (MC), and colloidal silicon dioxide (CSD) using a wet granulation technique. The ratios of RS: MC (1.

Antimonide laser diodes, with their high performance above room temperature, exhibit significant potential for widespread applications in the mid-infrared spectral region. However, the laser's performance significantly degrades as the emission wavelength increases, primarily due to severe quantum-well hole leakage and significant non-radiative recombination. In this paper, we put up an active region with a high valence band offset and excellent crystalline quality with high luminescence to improve the laser's performance.

Direct current magnetron sputtering was employed to fabricate In-N dual-doped SnO films, with varying concentrations of N in a mixed sputtering gas of N and argon (Ar). The quantity of -substituted O elements in the SnO lattice was confirmed through energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). A comprehensive investigation of properties of the In-N dual-doped SnO films was conducted using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction analysis, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy, Hall effect measurements, and current-voltage (-) characteristic assessments.

In this article, the sensing behaviors of undoped titanium dioxide (TiO) and CdS-doped TiO (CdS-TiO) thick films are discussed. Sensing pastes of 2 wt% CdS-TiO and undoped TiO were prepared in the laboratory and used to fabricate thick film gas sensors on an alumina substrate. The crystal structures of TiO and CdS-TiO samples were characterized by XRD and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
