This study aimed to compare computed tomography (CT) findings between basaloid lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and non-basaloid SCC. From July 2003 to April 2021, 39 patients with surgically proven basaloid SCC were identified. For comparison, 161 patients with surgically proven non-basaloid SCC from June 2018 to January 2019 were selected consecutively.

Background: Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) is a method of achieving lung collapse in severely emphysematous regions. One of the measures of success is the improvement in post-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV). The change in bronchodilator response (BDR) following BLVR is typically not reported, however, the changes in lung physiology that accompany endobronchial valve placement may impact aerosol drug delivery and alter the response to bronchodilators.

Background: Pneumothorax is a major complication after endoscopic lung volume reduction with valves, with a prevalence of up to 34%. Although some patients benefit from valve implantation despite pneumothorax, others are significantly impaired after lung collapse.
Research Question: What are the differences in the severity grades of pneumothorax and how do these affect clinical practice?
Study Design And Methods: This single-center retrospective study analyzed patients undergoing endoscopic valve implantation with and without pneumothorax after intervention.

Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung grows gradually, and spreads along the bronchial wall, often requiring tracheobronchoplastic procedure during surgery; however, incomplete resection occasionally occurs due to positive surgical margins. To avoid incomplete resection, effort should be exerted to confirm the extent of airway invasion of the tumor before surgery. Herein, we present the utility of combined treatment with bronchoscopic electrocautery wire snare for the endobronchial tumor prior to sleeve lobectomy with curative resection for patients with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung.
