The radiationless deactivation of the excited electronic states of the dual fluorescence molecule N(6),N(6)-dimethyladenine (DMAde) was investigated using femtosecond time-resolved fluorescence up-conversion spectroscopy. The molecules were studied in solution in water and in dioxane. Fluorescence-time profiles were recorded in the wide wavelength range of 290

During development, most cells experience a progressive restriction of fate that ultimately results in a fully differentiated mature state. Understanding more about the gene expression patterns that underlie developmental programs can inform engineering efforts for new or optimized forms. Here, we present a four-state integrase-based recorder of gene expression history and demonstrate its use in tracking gene expression events in Arabidopsis thaliana in two developmental contexts: lateral root initiation and stomatal differentiation.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune/neurodegenerative disease associated with progressing disability affecting mostly women. We aim to estimate transition probabilities describing MS-related disability progression from no disability to severe disability. Transition probabilities are a vital input for health economics models.

This article evaluates the COVID-19 pandemic impacts on the Family Health Strategy (FHS) team's work routines across a range of northeast Brazilian cities as perceived by community health workers (CHW). Data on COVID-19, CHW activities, and FHS teams were collected in 2021 by a structured questionnaire. A total of 1,935 CHWs from four state capitals (Fortaleza - Ceará State, João Pessoa - Paraíba State, Recife - Pernambuco State, Teresina - Piauí State) and four hinterland cities (Crato, Juazeiro do Norte, Barbalha, Sobral - Ceará State) participated in the study.

Diabatic Decomposition Perspective on the Role of Charge Transfer and Local Excitations in Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence.

J Chem Theory Comput

Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark, Anker Engelunds Vej 301, 2800 Kongens Lyngby, Denmark.

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) is a phenomenon that relies on the upconversion of triplet excitons to singlet excitons by means of reverse intersystem crossing (rISC). It has been shown both experimentally and theoretically that the TADF mechanism depends on the interplay between charge transfer and local excitations. However, the difference between the diabatic and adiabatic character of the involved excited states is rarely discussed in the literature.

Lotka-Volterra versus May-Leonard formulations of the spatial stochastic rock-paper-scissors model: The missing link.

Phys Rev E

February 2022

Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço, Universidade do Porto, CAUP, Rua das Estrelas, PT4150-762 Porto, Portugal.

The rock-paper-scissors (RPS) model successfully reproduces some of the main features of simple cyclic predator-prey systems with interspecific competition observed in nature. Still, lattice-based simulations of the spatial stochastic RPS model are known to give rise to significantly different results, depending on whether the three-state Lotka-Volterra or the four-state May-Leonard formulation is employed. This is true independently of the values of the model parameters and of the use of either a von Neumann or a Moore neighborhood.
