Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant kind of astrocytic tumors and is associated with a poor prognosis. In this retrospective study, we assessed the clinical, radiological, genetic molecular and treatment factors that influence clinical outcomes of patients with GBM.
Methods: A total of 116 patients with GBM who received surgery and radiation between January 2006 and December 2007 were included in this study. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox regression analysis were used to find the factors independently influencing patients' progression free survival (PFS) time and overall survival (OS) time.
Results: Age, preoperative Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) score, KPS score change at 2 weeks after operation, neurological deficit symptoms, tumor resection extent, maximal tumor diameter, involvement of eloquent cortex or deep structure, involvement of brain lobe, Ki-67 expression level and adjuvant chemotherapy were statistically significant factors (P < 0.05) for both PFS and OS in the univariate analysis. Cox proportional hazards modeling revealed that age
Conclusions: Age at diagnosis, preoperative KPS score, KPS score change at 2 weeks postoperation, involvement of brain lobe, involvement of eloquent cortex or deep structure, Ki-67 expression level and adjuvant chemotherapy correlate significantly with the prognosis of patients with GBM.

Objective: This study assessed the impact of intrathecal pemetrexed (IP) in managing leptomeningeal metastases (LM) in previously treated patients with -mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: We analyzed the clinical and survival outcomes of 50 patients with LM who received 50 mg IP after disease progression with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) treatment between September 2021 and September 2023 at the Hunan Cancer Hospital. Treatment response was evaluated based on improvement in neurological symptoms/signs and Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) scores.

Background: Surgery for tumors in the cerebellopontine angle is always a significant challenge due to the densely packed neurovascular structures, the narrow deep location, and the complex relationship between the lesions and surrounding neurovascular structures. Recently, great attention has been given to the neuroendoscope for its exclusive advantages, which have added a new dimension to many classical microscopic surgeries. However, the feasibility and advisability of fully endoscopic neurosurgery for cerebellopontine angle tumors remain to be further evaluated.

Background: The best tool for the management of pain associated with distal symmetric peripheral neuropathy (DSPN) is a matter of debate. Therefore, the study aimed to explore whether ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) therapy of the stellate ganglion (SG) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with painful DSPN could decrease pain severity and the need for analgesics.
Methods: Fifty-six T2DM patients with refractory painful DSPN were enrolled in this study, who then received bilateral ultrasound-guided PRF therapy of SG.

Background: To explore the altered malignant behavior, prognosis and survival of glioblastoma in contact with Subventricular Zone (SVZ) and independent predictors on patients' overall survival.
Method: The records of 131 patients with supratentorial primary glioblastoma who underwent surgery at our hospital between 2012 and 2018 were reviewed retrospectively. The authors reviewed preoperative MRI images and divided patients into two groups: Glioblastoma not in contact with SVZ (G-SVZ) and glioblastoma in contact with SVZ (G + SVZ).

Purpose: Uveal melanoma (UM) represents the most prevalent and aggressive intraocular malignancy in adults. This study examined the outcomes of patients diagnosed with high-risk UM who underwent fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery (fSRS) treatment utilizing a novel LINAC-based frameless technique.
Design: Retrospective, interventional case series.
