Background: Miscarriage is a common complication of pregnancy, and its underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms remains unclear. The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), a prothrombotic and inflammatory marker, has been controversially discussed as a potential predictor of miscarriage. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the predictive significance of the PLR in women with miscarriage compared to healthy pregnancies.

Gastric cancer remains a significant global health challenge, causing a substantial number of cancer-related deaths, particularly in China. While the exact causes of gastric cancer are still being investigated, () infection has been identified as the primary risk factor, which triggers chronic inflammation and a multistage progression of gastric lesions that may lead to carcinogenesis over a long latency time. Since the 1990s, numerous efforts have focused on assessing the effectiveness of eradication in preventing new cases of gastric cancer among both the general population and patients who have undergone early-stage cancer treatment.

The presence of () infection has been indicated to have a protective influence on esophageal cancer (EC) in some studies, but its specific impact on the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and esophageal adenocarcinoma remains inconclusive. This manuscript comment addresses the recent study by López-Gómez . Despite it was a retrospective observational study without a control group, this study revealed a notably low prevalence of infection among EC patients, indicating a potential association between and EC in Spain.
