We tested the association of adiponectin/leptin ratio with diabetes type after adjusting for multiple factors in 1156 youths with newly diagnosed diabetes in the SEARCH study. Although adiponectin/leptin ratio is associated with diabetes type in youth, it is due to differences in adiponectin, but not leptin levels.

Background: Childhood obesity is a major public health concern, being linked to an increased risk of metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disease. Even in childhood, obesity is associated with systemic low-grade inflammation, which is a critical factor in the development of atherosclerosis and a predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
Objectives: To describe the prevalence of obesity and examine the relationship between IL-6, TNF-α, adiponectin, leptin, the leptin/adiponectin (L/A) ratio, and Klotho levels with BMI in children.

Previous studies suggest associations between the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and adiponectin/leptin (ALR) and apolipoprotein B/A1 (APOR) ratios. This longitudinal observational study, using data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES), examined the rate of lung function decline, risk factors for the airflow obstruction (AFO), and the time to first AFO based on ALR and APOR groups. Among 5578 participants, high ALR and low APOR were associated with rapid decline in lung function and a shorter time to the first AFO.

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine if baseline adiponectin, leptin, and resistin levels are associated with response to antirheumatic treatment in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: This study included 341 participants of the Nordic Rheumatic Diseases Strategy Trials and Registries trial with untreated early RA, randomized at baseline into four treatment arms: methotrexate combined with (1) prednisolone, (2) certolizumab, (3) abatacept, or (4) tocilizumab. Follow-up was up to 48 weeks.
