Objective: There has been limited research on the influence of race and ethnicity on treatment decision-making for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). This prospective study aims to investigate potential factors linked to treatment modality choice among patients with medically refractory CRS, distinguishing between Chinese American and non-Chinese American patients.
Methods: CRS patients with persistent symptoms despite prior medical treatment were prospectively enrolled.
Background: has recently been categorized as low-risk for AmpC β-lactamase inducible production, but research on outcomes in bacteremia by antibiotic choice is limited.
Objectives: This study examined the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with ceftriaxone-susceptible bacteremia who received AmpC-directed β-lactam therapy vs. narrower spectrum therapies.

Background: The XVII Pacific Games was held in Honiara, Solomon Islands in 2023 and was attended by competitors from 24 Pacific nations. The National Referral Hospital (NRH) is the sole tertiary hospital and largest emergency department (ED) in the Solomon Islands, located in the capital city, Honiara, and was the designated referral hospital for the Pacific Games.
Objective: This report documents the lessons learnt from supporting a large international sporting event within a resource-limited health setting, and may help other EDs prepare for similar planned mass gatherings.

Objective: Early diagnosis and treatment of candidemia in intensive care units (ICUs) remain a significant challenge globally because of the lack of well-established non-culture-based diagnostic methods. This study aimed to evaluate risk factors in critically ill ICU patients, develop a unique score, and create a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for the early diagnosis of candidemia.
Materials And Methods: The study was conducted in three phases: 1) Retrospective analysis of 100 ICU patients from İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa between January 2017 and December 2018 to identify risk factors for invasive candidiasis, 2) development of Cerrahpaşa score based on these findings, and 3) prospective evaluation of 75 ICU patients, applying the newly created Cerrahpaşa score and implementing a rapid PCR-based test on whole blood samples.

This study aimed to determine the growth rates and drug susceptibility levels of patients with complex (MTC) growth in cultures obtained and to compare the results with the growth rates and drug susceptibility levels found in our country and other countries. It also aimed to evaluate the results of supplementing classical methods such as Lowenstein-Jensen (LJ) with liquid TK MEDIUM and to determine the relationship between the growth rates obtained with both methods.
