Riveting Nucleation Enabled Long Cycling Life Calcium Metal Anodes.

Adv Mater

January 2025

Hefei National Research Center for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, 230026, P. R. China.

Calcium metal batteries with high capacity and low cost are promising alternatives to Li-ion batteries for large-scale energy storage. However, its development is crucially impeded by the irreversible Ca metal anode, which is highly associated with uncontrollable Ca plating/stripping. Here, we report a new riveting strategy to regulate the nucleation and growth of a Ca metal anode in the 3D structure of a carbon nanotube film (CNF) by introducing in situ-formed Na metal mediators.

Multiple tipping points in the Earth system could be triggered when global warming exceeds specific thresholds. However, the degree of their impact on the East Asian hydroclimate remains uncertain due to the lack of quantitative rainfall records. Here we present an ensemble reconstruction of East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) rainfall since the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) using nine statistical and machine learning methods based on multi-proxy records from a maar lake in southern China.

In patients with acute leukemia (AL), malignant cells and therapy modify the properties of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their descendants, reducing their ability to maintain normal hematopoiesis. The aim of this work was to elucidate the alterations in MSCs at the onset and after therapy in patients with AL. The study included MSCs obtained from the bone marrow of 78 AL patients (42 AML and 36 ALL) and healthy donors.

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class-I molecules (or Human Leucocyte Antigen class-I) play a key role in adaptive immunity against cancer. They present specific tumor neoantigens to cytotoxic T cells and provoke an antitumor cytotoxic response. The total or partial loss of HLA molecules can inhibit the immune system's ability to detect and destroy cancer cells.
