We report a radio frequency magnetron sputtering method for producing TiO(2) shell coatings directly on the surface of ZnO nanorod arrays. ZnO nanorod arrays were firstly fabricated on transparent conducting oxide substrates by a hydrothermal route, and subsequently decorated with TiO(2) by a plasma sputtering deposition process. The core/shell nanorods have single-crystal ZnO cores and anatase TiO(2) shells. The shells are homogeneously coated onto the whole ZnO nanorods without thickness change. This approach enables us to tailor the thickness of the TiO(2) shell for desired photovoltaic applications on a one-nanometer scale. The function of the TiO(2) shell as a blocking layer for increasing charge separation and suppression of the surface recombination was tested in dye-sensitized solar cells. The enhanced photocurrent and open-circuit voltage gave rise to increased photovoltaic efficiency and decreased dark current, indicating successful functioning of the TiO(2) shell.

This study investigates the rheological behavior of oil well cement pastes (OWCPs) modified with core/shell TiO@SiO (nTS) nanoparticles and polycarboxylate-ether (PCE) superplasticizers at different temperatures (25, 45, and 60 °C). Results show that nTS particles increased static and dynamic yield stresses and the apparent viscosity of the cement slurries due to an increased solid volume fraction and reduced free water availability. The increase in the slurry dispersion by adding PCE superplasticizers enhanced the effect of the nanoparticles on the rheological parameters.

Inspired by metasurfaces' control over light fields, this study created a liquid microlens coated with a layer of Au@TiO, Core-Shell nanospheres. Utilizing the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Au@TiO, Core-Shell nanospheres, and the formation of photonic nanojets (PNJs), this study aimed to extend the imaging system's cutoff frequency, improve microlens focusing, enhance the capture capability of evanescent waves, and utilize nanospheres to improve the conversion of evanescent waves into propagating waves, thus boosting the liquid microlens's super-resolution capabilities. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method analyzed the impact of parameters including nanosphere size, microlens sample contact width, and droplet's initial contact angle on super-resolution imaging.

Ferroelectric polarization is considered to be an effective strategy to improve the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) of photoelectrocatalysis. The primary challenge is to clarify how the polarization field controls the OER dynamic pathway at a molecular level. Here, electrochemical fingerprint tests were used, together with theoretical calculations, to systematically investigate the free energy change in oxo and hydroxyl intermediates on TiO-BaTiO core-shell nanowires (BTO@TiO) upon polarization in different pH environments.
