A new formulation describing the interference term of a two beam interferometer with unequal Gaussian spectra propagating in different dispersive media is provided by defining a composite standard deviation and a composite center frequency of the interfering spectra. This formulation is generalized to arbitrary spectra by decomposing each spectrum into a linear composition of Gaussian distributions. The effective phase and group delays indicate the effect of the unequal spectral distributions and the dispersive media. An effective coherence length is derived, different than the coherence lengths of the interfering fields. The accuracy of the new formulation is proven experimentally by using optical coherence tomography systems.

Hydrogen-substituted graphdiyne (HsGDY) is a two-dimensional material with an sp-sp carbon skeleton featuring a band gap and a porous structure that enhances ion diffusion. In previous reports, HsGDY growth was limited to metal substrates such as Cu, which then required transfer. Here, we developed a sandwich method that allows HsGDY to be grown directly on the target substrate.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to create a user-friendly CEST simulation tool with a GUI for both spectral (1D Z-spectra) and spatial (2D phantom) CEST experiments, making the CEST simulation easier to perform.
Methods: CESTsimu was developed using MATLAB App Designer. It consists of three modules: Saturation Settings, Exchange Settings, and Phantom Settings.

Purpose: In locations where the proton energy spectrum is broad, lineal energy spectrum-based proton biological effects models may be more accurate than dose-averaged linear energy transfer (LET) based models. However, the development of microdosimetric spectrum-based biological effects models is hampered by the extreme computational difficulty of calculating microdosimetric spectra. Given a precomputed library of lineal energy spectra for monoenergetic protons, a weighted summation can be performed which yields the lineal energy spectrum of an arbitrary polyenergetic beam.

A simplified theoretical description of multiple-quantum excitation and mixing for nuclear magnetic resonance of half-integer quadrupolar nuclei is presented. The approach recasts the multiple-quantum nutation behavior in terms of reduced excitation and mixing curves through a scaling of the first-order offset frequency by the quadrupolar coupling constant. The two-dimensional correlation of the static first-order anisotropic line shape to the second-order anisotropic magic-angle-spinning (MAS) line shape is utilized to transform the three-dimensional integral over the three Euler angles into a single integral over the dimensionless first-order offset parameter.
