We present a single fiber reflectance confocal microscope with a two dimensional MEMS gimbaled scanner. Achieved lateral and axial resolutions are 0.82 mum and 13 mum, respectively. The field of view is 140 x 100 mum at 8 frames/second. Images and videos of cell phantoms and tissue are presented with sub-cellular resolution.

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is characterized by anxiety, excessive fear, distress, and weakness as symptoms of a psychiatric disorder. However, the mechanism associated with its symptoms such as anxiety-like behaviors is not well understood. It is aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms of the medial septum (MS)-medial habenula (MHb) neural circuit modulating the anxiety-like behaviors of PTSD mice through in vivo fiber photometry recording, optogenetics, behavioral testing by open-field and elevated plus maze, fluorescent gold retrograde tracer technology, and viral tracer technology.

Genomic selection can enhance the rate of genetic gain of cane and sucrose yield in sugarcane (Saccharum L.), an important industrial crop worldwide. We assessed the predictive ability (PA) for six traits, such as theoretical recoverable sugar (TRS), number of stalks (NS), stalk weight (SW), cane yield (CY), sugar yield (SY), and fiber content (Fiber) using 20,451 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with 22 statistical models based on the genomic estimated breeding values of 567 genotypes within and across five stages of the Louisiana sugarcane breeding program.

Purpose: Objective information about the central auditory pathways in vestibular schwannoma can guide strategies for hearing rehabilitation and prognostication. This study aims to generate this information using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).
Methods: This is a prospective observational single center study including 35 patients with vestibular schwannoma and 40 controls.

This paper had conducted tensile shear tests on single-lap joints (SLJs)bonded structures of carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix (CFRP) composite laminates with different overlap lengths, overlap widths, overlap model, adherend material, and adhesive layer thicknesses under two environments: room temperature dry state (RTD) and elevated temperature wet state (ETW). The failure modes were observed, and load-displacement curves were obtained. The microscopic morphology of the fracture surface was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM).

Smart control of energy interactions plays a key role in manipulating upconversion dynamics and tuning emission colors for lanthanide-doped materials. However, quantifying the energy flux in particular energy migration in the representative sensitizer-activator coupled upconversion system has remained a challenge. Here we report a conceptual model to examine the energy flux in a single nanoparticle by designing an interfacial energy transfer mediated nanostructure.
