Resident physicians often work extended-duration work shifts (EDWSs) exceeding 16 hours. EDWSs are associated with fatigue, workplace errors, mental health problems, and motor vehicle incidents. A 2019 systematic review reported that resident physicians had an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) and of falling asleep at the wheel after EDWSs.

Article Synopsis
  • Rapid advancements in IoT are significantly impacting the vehicle industry, leading to a demand for better decision-making methods for selecting maritime vehicles.
  • This research presents a combined multi-criteria decision-making framework that integrates the additive ratio assessment (ARAS) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to evaluate performance and authenticity criteria for IoT-based maritime vehicles.
  • The hybrid approach enhances the assessment process by addressing the limitations of AHP, offering a more comprehensive evaluation of alternatives, validated through empirical data and expert judgment.

Article Synopsis
  • Atopic dermatitis (AD) significantly affects patients' quality of life, causing itching, skin pain, and sleep disturbances; ruxolitinib cream has shown effectiveness in treating these symptoms in adults and adolescents through two phase III clinical trials.
  • In the TRuE-AD studies, patients applied different strengths of ruxolitinib cream or a vehicle cream, with results indicating that those using ruxolitinib experienced quick relief from symptoms like skin pain and sleep issues within hours or weeks of application.
  • Analysis of patient-reported outcomes revealed notable improvements in overall quality of life and symptom burden after two weeks of using ruxolitinib cream compared to the vehicle, with sustained benefits observed throughout the study periods.

Background: Peristomal pyoderma gangrenosum (PPG) is a critical complication after surgical ileostomy or colostomy placement. While topical treatments are often effective, most of the available vehicles reduce ostomy pouch adhesion. There are no commercially available corticosteroid powders for topical application; however, using powder from crushed corticosteroid tablets or capsules may circumvent this issue.

Departamento de Ciencias Químico Biológicas, Universidad de las Américas Puebla, San Andrés Cholula 72810, Puebla, Mexico.

This study aimed to develop HGs based on cationic guar gum (CGG), polyethylene glycol (PEG), propylene glycol (PG), and citric acid (CA) using a 2 factorial experimental design to optimize their properties. HGs were characterized through FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The biological activities of HGs were determined by evaluating their mucoadhesive capacity and antibacterial activity in vitro, whereas their toxicity was analyzed using nauplii as an in vivo model.
