Foveal hernia (FH) can be detected by optic coherence tomography. FH refers to the prolapse of the innermost retinal layers into the vitreal cavity. It occurs in patients with an epiretinal membrane that does not cover the central foveal area.

Background: Panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) impacts macular function in eyes with early proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Herein, we used the multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) to objectively investigate this concept.
Methods: In this prospective interventional case series, we enrolled patients with treatment-naive early PDR, absence of clinically significant macular edema, and requirement for PRP.

Lectin affinity chromatography is one of powerful tools for the study of protein glycosylation. Different lectin proteins can recognize different structures of monosaccharides or oligosaccharide units, allowing for the selective separation of glycopeptides or glycoproteins containing different polysaccharide structures. However, the N-glycans were only partially captured by most of common lectins, reducing the coverage rate of identifying N-glycoconjugates.

Disruption of the glycosylation machinery is a common feature in many types of cancer, and colorectal cancer (CRC) is no exception. Core fucosylation is mediated by the enzyme fucosyltransferase 8 (FucT-8), which catalyzes the addition of α1,6-l-fucose to the innermost GlcNAc residue of -glycans. We and others have documented the involvement of FucT-8 and core-fucosylated proteins in CRC progression, in which we addressed core fucosylation in the syngeneic CRC model formed by SW480 and SW620 tumor cell lines from the perspective of alterations in their -glycosylation profile and protein expression as an effect of the knockdown of the gene that encodes FucT-8.

To interpret the final steps of chlorophyll biosynthesis, detailed knowledge of etiolation symptoms is necessary. Most of our knowledge originates from studies on plant materials grown in complete darkness. Hardly any information is available about the plastid development in internal parenchyma cells of fleshy fruits in which the food supply is almost unlimited.
