We investigate photonic band-gap (PBG) profiles of a modified honeycomb lattice structure and we identify the structural parameters that possess the largest band-gap. By incorporating the identified profile into the cladding, the wavelength dependence of the dispersion properties and confinement losses of air-guiding modified honeycomb PBG fibers (PBGFs) is investigated through a full-vector modal solver based on finite element method. In particular, we find that broadband effectively singlemode operation from 1450 nm to 1850 nm can be achieved using a modified honeycomb PBGF with a defected core realized by removing 7 air holes.

The photopolymerization process in 3D printing is considered greener once it involves a fast reaction and low energy consumption. Various reactions for photopolymerization can be used nowadays, but a special one is the thiol-ene "click" reaction that occurs in equimolar concentrations of thiol and alkene groups. In this sense, solvent-free photopolymerizable formulations were prepared to contain non-modified castor oil, Trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercapto propionate), and cellulosic fillers from hemp, tagua, and walnut.

With the rapid emergence of flexible electronics, flexible pressure sensors are of importance in various fields. In this study, a dopamine-modified melamine sponge (MS) was used to prepare a honeycomb structure of carbon black (CB)/MXene-silicone rubber (SR)@MS flexible pressure sensor (CMSM) through layer-by-layer self-assembly technology. Using SR as a binder to construct the honeycomb structure not only improves the mechanical properties of the sensor but also provides more attachment sites for CB/MXene, enhancing the stability of the conductive network.

In this study, a highly efficient La-FeO/dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)/honeycomb ceramic plate synergistic catalytic system was successfully constructed by using modified iron oxide (FeO) catalyst coating assisted DBD plasma, and the prepared catalytic coating was fully characterized by various techniques. The results indicate that the lanthanum (La) is efficiently and uniformly doped in FeO, and the modified La-FeO catalyst exhibited a better photocatalytic performance. The overuse of Thiamphenicol (TAP), as a typical chloramphenicol antibiotic, has led to its accumulation in the aquatic environment.

In this research, modification of long-chain inulin (FXL) through phosphorylation (PFXL) to enhance its application in wheat starch (WS) and starch-based products. The impacts of PFXL on the pasting, rheology, microstructure, and retrogradation characteristics of WS were researched. The findings revealed that PFXL significantly reduced both the breakdown and setback values of WS.

As widely used pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CC) pose a great threat to human beings and the environment due to their high toxicity and low biodegradability. Therefore, it is essential to detect them simultaneously and sensitively. In this study, a novel bifunctional ZIF-8/carbon black (CB) modified MXene (MXene/CB/ZIF-8/GCE) electrochemical sensor (ECS) based on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was constructed for simultaneous detection of HQ and CC by si-tu doping ZIF-8 on MXene/CB with a honeycomb sandwich structure.
