Planar waveguides in nonlinear optical crystals of Sn(2)P(2)S(6) have been produced by He+ ion implantation. The effective indices of the waveguide have been determined and refractive index profiles have been evaluated for the indices along all three principal axes of the optical indicatrix. The depth of the induced optical barrier is n1 = -0.07, n2 = -0.07 and n3 = -0.09 at lambda = 0.633 microm for a fluence Phi = 0.5x10(15)ions/cm(2). Propagation losses for hybrid-n(1) modes are alpha approximately 10dB/cm.

Li-ion capacitors (LICs) integrate the desirable features of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and supercapacitors (SCs), but the kinetic imbalance between the both electrodes leads to inferior electrochemical performance. Thus, constructing an advanced anode with outstanding rate capability and terrific redox kinetics is crucial to LICs. Herein, heterostructured ZnS/SnS2 nanosheets encapsulated into N-doped carbon microcubes (ZnS/SnS2@NC) are successfully fabricated.

Tailored Polymer-Inorganic Bilayer SEI with Proton Holder Feature for Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College Park, Building C, 404, Shenzhen, CHINA.

Conventional SEI in aqueous Zn-ion batteries mainly acts as a physical barrier to prevent HER, which is prone to structural deterioration stemming from uneven Zn deposition at high current densities. Herein, we propose an in-situ structural design of polymer-inorganic bilayer SEI with a proton holder feature by aniline-modulated electrolytes. The inner ZnF2 with high stiffness and strength effectively suppresses Zn dendrites.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is characterized by pronounced immune escape and resistance to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Preliminary investigations revealed a marked overexpression of gasdermin E (GSDME) in GBM. Notably, cisplatin (CDDP) demonstrated a capacity of inducing pyroptosis by activating caspase-3 to cleave GSDME, coupled with the release of proinflammatory factors, indicating the potential as a viable approach of inducing anti-tumor immune activation.

The lipoxygenase (LOX) gene family is widely distributed in plants, and its activity is closely associated with seed viability and stress tolerance. In this study, we cloned the rice(Oryza sativa)lipoxygenase gene OsLOX1, a key participant in the 13-lipoxygenase metabolic pathway. Our primary focus was to investigate its role in mediating responses to drought stress and seed germination in rice.

Constructing multifunctional phosphors grounded in the intricate relationship between energy level structures and luminescent properties has captivated researchers in the luminescent material field. Herein, using the embedded cluster multiconfigurational ab initio method, the energy levels of Bi in the SrLaGaO host at different geometries were calculated, which results in the establishment of complete configurational coordinate curves, yielding breathing mode vibrational frequencies and equilibrium bond lengths for all excited states. These curves supply deep insight into the luminescence properties of Bi-doped phosphors and highlight the impact of ions in the second coordination sphere on luminescence.
