The transition from a milk-based diet to exclusive solid feeding deeply modifies microbiota-host crosstalk. Specifically, early ingestion of plant polysaccharides would be one of the main nutritional components to drive host-microbiota-interaction. To capture the effects of polysaccharides early-life nutrition (starch vs rapidly fermentable fiber) on the holobiont development, we investigated on the one hand the gut bacteriome and metabolome and on the other hand the transcriptome of two host gut tissues.

Background/aim: The present study utilized the three-dimensional histoculture drug response assay (HDRA) to determine the efficacy of recombinant methioninase (rMETase) on tumor tissue resected from patients with late-stage cancer, as a functional biomarker of sensitivity to methionine restriction therapy.

Patients And Methods: Resected peritoneal-metastatic cancer, including colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and pseudomyxoma were placed on Gelform in RPMI 1640 medium for seven days and treated with rMETase from 2.5 U/ml to 20 U/ml.

Methods And Results: A healthy diet score was developed in 147 642 people from the general population, from 21 countries in the PURE study, and the consistency of the associations of the score with events was examined in five large independent studies from 70 countries. The healthy diet score was developed based on six foods each of which has been associated with a significantly lower risk of mortality [i.
