Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid--ASA) inhibits pletlets thromboxane (TXA2) synthesis as well as endothelial prostacycline (PGI2) synthesis. Aiming to prevent PGI2 synthesis attempts have been made to reduce ASA doses. Here are presented results of ASA effects in daily dose of 100 mg given to 26 patients with mean age of 54 years who suffered from myocardial infarction and were on rehabilitation. Except for ASA, none had consumed any anti-inflammatory drugs. Platelet aggregation was examined with ADP stimulation and spontaneous platelet aggregation in the circulation. The analyses were performed before ASA intake and 10 days after receiving 100 mg ASA each day. The results of the study have shown that both doses of ASA, 100 mg and 500 mg, have the same effects on pletelet aggregation measured by these methods.

The urothelium and lamina propria (LP) contribute to sensations of bladder fullness by releasing multiple mediators, including prostaglandins (PGs) and adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP), that activate or modulate functions of cells throughout the bladder wall. Mediators that are simultaneously released in response to bladder distention likely influence each other's mechanisms of release and action. This study investigated whether PGs could alter the extracellular hydrolysis of ATP by soluble nucleotidases (s-NTDs) released in the LP of nondistended or distended bladders.

Granule secretion is an essential platelet function that contributes not only to haemostasis but also to wound healing, inflammation, and atherosclerosis. Granule secretion from platelets is facilitated, at least in part, by Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-Sensitive Factor (NSF) Attachment Protein Receptor (SNARE) complex-mediated granule fusion. Although α-synuclein is a protein known to modulate the assembly of the SNARE complex in other cells, its role in platelet function remains poorly understood.

Protective Effect of Pentoxifylline on the Development of Acute Gastric Mucosal Injury in a Model of LPS-Induced Sepsis.

Antioxidants (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid, Avda. Complutense, s/n, 28040 Madrid, Spain.

Alterations in the gastric mucosal barrier, one of whose fundamental components is phosphatidylcholine (PC), may play an important role in the pathophysiology of erosive gastritis secondary to sepsis. Pentoxifylline (PTX) has been shown to reduce tissue damage in various experimental models of sepsis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of PTX on gastric mucosa PC synthesis, leukocyte infiltration, arachidonic acid-related metabolites, inflammation, oxidative stress, NO, CO, and somatostatin in a rat model of LPS-induced sepsis.

This study aims to reveal the effect and mechanism of Dendrobii Officinalis Caulis water extract on the rat model of hyperviscosity induced by a high-sugar, high-salt, and high-fat diet. Thirty-six male SD rats were randomized into normal, model, Compound Danshen Tablets(0.5 g·kg~(-1)), and low-, medium-, and high-dose(0.

Objective: Aim: To study IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 blood serum levels and their relationship with colon tissue prostanoids in experimental ulcerative colitis.

Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: Blood serum interleukins and colon tissue prostanoids were determined by enzyme immunosorbent assay on three groups of WAG population rats (1st control group - rectal saline injection; 2nd control group - 50% ethanol injection; experimental group - injection of 2,4-dinitrobenzene-sulfonic acid in 50% ethanol).

Results: Results: The increased levels of all interleukins both in 2nd control and experimental groups versus 1st control group were found.
