Background: In China, rising chronic diseases has coincided with the increasing burden of multimorbidity, particularly for vulnerable populations. Limited primary data are available to understand the prevalence and patterns of multimorbidity, especially in resource-limited rural areas. This study aims to conduct robust evaluations of the prevalence and patterns of multimorbidity among rural adults in China, and to compare the differences in prevalence and patterns when using primary data alone versus in combination with routinely collected data.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are inflammatory diseases. These two entities often co-exist, but little is known about the prevalence of this phenomenon in patients with PAD. The objectives of this prospective cross-sectional study were to determine the prevalence of COPD in patients with PAD and to assess the frequency of COPD underdiagnosis in this group of patients.

Purpose: A high proportion of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) remains undiagnosed. The main objectives of this study were to measure the prevalence of diagnosed OSA and determine OSA predictors in patients who underwent bariatric surgery, who are predominantly female and pre-menopausal and represent an understudied population in OSA literature.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional population-based study using the Ontario Bariatric Registry (OBR) from 2010 to 2016, linked to ICES databases which include health administrative data on all encounters within a single public-payer system.
