The development of the next generation of nanotechnologies requires precise control of the size, shape, and structure of individual components in a variety of chemical and engineering environments. This includes synthesis, storage, operational environments and, since these products will ultimately be discarded, their interaction with natural ecosystems. Much of the important information that determines these properties is contained within nanoscale phase diagrams, but quantitative phase maps that include surface effects and critical diameter (along with temperature and pressure) remain elusive. Here we present the first quantitative equilibrium phase map for gold nanoparticles together with experimental verification, based on relativistic ab initio thermodynamics and in situ high-resolution electron microscopy at elevated temperatures.

Background: Supplementing outpatient medical care with the use of video consultations could, among other benefits, improve access, especially in structurally disadvantaged areas.
Objective: This claims data analysis, carried out as part of the German research project "Preference-based use of video consultation in urban and rural regions," aimed to analyze the use of video consultations and the characteristics of its user groups.
Methods: Claims data from 3 Statutory Health Insurance Funds (SHIFs) and 4 Associations of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (ASHIPs) from the period April 2017 to the end of 2020 were used.

Background: Fractional doses of vaccine to protect against COVID-19 offer the potential to expand vaccine availability, reduce side effects, and enhance vaccination campaign efficiency. This study aimed to assess the immune response and safety of fractional doses of SARS-CoV-2 booster vaccines compared to full doses in immunocompetent adults aged 18-60 who had previously received a full series of Sinovac, AZD1222 (AstraZeneca), or BNT162b2 (Pfizer/BioNTech).
Methods: This trial was structured as a parallel-group, double-blind, randomised Phase IV non-inferiority study, carried out in Campo Grande, Midwest, Brazil.

Significant efforts and resources have been dedicated to developing CRISPR-Cas based point-of-care testing (POCT) and self-diagnosis methods for nucleic acid pathogens, aiming to complement the gold standard quantitative PCR tests, particularly in settings where centralized facilities, trained personnel, or resource-intensive equipment are unavailable. However, the reliance on stationary, high-cost readout machinery hinders their full deployment at the point of care. We aimed to develop a solid-phase invertase-labeled reporter (ILR) system that enables convenient readout of CRISPR-Cas reactions, facilitate HPV detection in a POCT-compatible manner.

This work aims to model the influence of biofuels on localized "pitting" corrosion that occurs at the bottom of atmospheric storage tanks. To achieve this purpose, an electro-chemical phase-field model is proposed to include the extra chemical reaction due to the presence of organic acids in an electrolyte solution. The resulting set of nonlinear coupled partial differential equations is numerically integrated by means of finite element methods with a twofold aim: tracking the evolution of the metal/electrolyte interface and predicting the corrosion rates observed when either single or multiple interacting pits are formed in the bottom of a carbon steel tank.

Objectives: This study aimed to ascertain the effect of secukinumab on erosion and enthesiophyte progression in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT).
Methods: This was a phase 4, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Patients with active PsA and ≥ 1 erosion in the metacarpophalangeal joints (MCPJ) 2-4 were randomised in a 1:1 ratio to subcutaneous secukinumab or placebo.
