Antireflection coatings fabricated between the substrate and the diffractive microstructure are shown to reduce Fresnel losses effectively, especially for high-index substrates used in the infrared region, if the diffractive structure and the antireflection stack are designed simultaneously. A substantial reduction of the Fabry-Perot effect caused by the high-index substrate is observed by using antireflection layers with films thicker than the normal quarter-wave films.

Purpose: We aimed to explore the mechanism by which Boron-doped nano-hydroxyapatite (B-nHAp) facilitates the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts through controlled release of B.

Methods: B-nHAp characterization was accomplished by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and transmission electron microscopy. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) were subjected to flow cytometry, alizarin red S staining, and cell counting kit-8 assay for proliferation and differentiation determination.

We have successfully prepared a significant number of nanowires from non-toxic silicon sources. Compared to the SiO silicon source used in most other articles, our preparation method is much safer. It provides a simple and harmless new preparation method for the preparation of silicon nanowires.

Cyclopentadienyl anions ([Cp]) are pervasive ligands in coordination chemistry. In contrast, heavy-element derivatives of these ligands, particularly those that feature arsenic, are not as well developed. In this work, a new arsenic-based heterocycle with a structure analogous to [Cp] is presented.

The influence of varying hydrogen content on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and fracture behavior of the metastable β titanium alloy TB8 after hydrogen charging has been investigated in this study. Several characterization methods, including optical microscopy (OM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), were employed to comprehensively analyze the alloy. The results show that with the addition of hydrogen, hydrogen mainly accumulated at grain boundaries in the form of hydrides.

Determination of Site Occupancy in the M-Pd-Zn (M = Cu, Ag, and Au) γ-Brass Phase by CALculation of PHAse Diagrams Modeling and Rietveld Refinement.

The Pd-Zn γ-brass phase provides exciting opportunities for synthesizing site-isolated catalysts with precisely controlled Pd active site ensembles. Introducing a third metallic element into the γ-brass lattice further perturbs the catalytic active site ensembles. Here, we introduce coinage metallic elements M (M = Cu, Ag, and Au) into the Pd-Zn γ-brass phase and investigate the site occupation factors of each element in the γ-brass lattice.
