In this paper we present the fabrication and characterization of polymer nanomembranes filled with magnetic nanoparticles and attached covalently to a periodic array of free-standing silicon walls, forming an array of micro-channels with the membrane as a cover. The width of a micro-channel of about 1.4 microm sets a characteristic lateral size and the thickness of the polymer membrane ranges between 100 and 300 nm. The membrane is made of cross-linked hydrophilic polymers possessing a Young's modulus of only a few MPa. The presence of the magnetic particles within the membrane makes the film responsive to external magnetic fields. The mechanical and magnetic properties of the membrane are characterized by bulge tests and with atomic force microscopy.

Coil embolization of cerebral aneurysms often encounters challenges in achieving complete filling of the aneurysm sac due to complex shapes and hemodynamic factors, frequently resulting in the formation of a residual cavity (RC) at the aneurysm neck. The hemodynamic mechanisms underlying RC formation and growth, however, remain poorly understood. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, combined with silent MRA free from contrast agents and metal artifacts, offers a promising approach to elucidate these mechanisms, potentially enhancing the clinical management of cerebral aneurysms post-coiling.

Background: Patients in many underserved geographies lack access to invasive coronary angiography (ICA).
Objectives: This preclinical study explored the feasibility of telerobotic ICA between separate continents.
Methods: Using a novel robotic system, attempts were made to navigate a magnetic guidewire and diagnostic catheter from the aortic arch into a target coronary artery ostium in a fluid-filled cardiac model.

This study investigates fixed and moving mesh methodologies for modeling liquid metal-free surface deformation during the induction melting process. The numerical method employs robust coupling of magnetic fields with the hydrodynamics of the turbulent stirring of liquid metal. Free surface tracking is implemented using the fixed mesh level set (LS) and the moving mesh arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation.

Aims: A cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) approach to non-invasively estimate left ventricular (LV) filling pressure was recently developed and shown to correlate with invasively measured pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). We examined the association between CMR-estimated PCWP (CMR-PCWP) and other imaging and biomarker measures of congestion, and the effect of empagliflozin on these, in the SUGAR-DM-HF trial (NCT03485092).
Methods And Results: SUGAR-DM-HF enrolled 105 patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes who were randomly assigned to empagliflozin 10 mg or placebo once daily for 36 weeks.

Objective Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI) and other neuroimaging techniques are routinely used in medical diagnosis, cognitive neuroscience or recently in brain decoding. They produce three- or four-dimensional scans reflecting the geometry of brain tissue or activity, which is highly correlated temporally and spatially. While there exist numerous theoretically guided methods for analyzing correlations in one-dimensional data, they often cannot be readily generalized to the multidimensional geometrically embedded setting.
