Objectives: To analyse the aetiological spectrum, clinical presentation and short-term renal outcomes of patients with acute kidney injury of uncertain aetiology subjected to percutaneous renal biopsy.

Methods: The prospective, cohort study was conducted at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, Karachi, from March 1 to October 30, 2024, and comprised hospitalised acute kidney injury patients of either gender aged 18- 75 years who had been subjected to percutaneous renal biopsy. The patients were followed up for at least three months from the time of the biopsy.

A young lady was brought to the hospital by the police after they found her wandering in the streets far away from her home behaving oddly. At admission, she was confused and had various delusional thoughts accompanied by visual and auditory hallucinations. Recent advances in CRISPR-Cas systems have revolutionised the study and treatment of kidney diseases, including acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetic kidney disease (DKD), lupus nephritis (LN), and polycystic kidney disease (PKD). CRISPR-Cas technology offers precise and versatile tools for genetic modification in monogenic kidney disorders such as PKD and Alport syndrome. Recent advances in CRISPR technology have also shown promise in addressing other kidney diseases like AKI, CKD, and DKD.

Purpose: We present a case of Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease (KFD) associated with bilateral optic neuropathy progressing to vision loss.

Observations: A 17-year-old male was referred for bilateral optic nerve pallor. Eight years prior, he was diagnosed with KFD after workup for lymphadenopathy and treated with prednisolone acutely followed by long-term Plaquenil.
