Slimmer's paralysis is a peripheral mononeuropathy of the common peroneal (fibular) nerve (CPN/CFN), typically associated with rapid weight loss resulting in loss of subcutaneous fat pad and subsequent neural compression at the fibular head. Here, we describe a young man with a 1-year history of right-sided foot drop, which developed following a rapid intentional weight loss of 11 kg over a period of 15 days. This weight loss was preceded by rapid weight gain over 2 days owing to binge eating.

Purpose: Fibrosis of muscle spindles (sensory organs) in back muscles induced by intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration could limit transmission of muscle stretch to the sensory receptor and explain the proprioceptive deficits common in back pain. Exercise reduces back muscles fibrosis. This study investigated whether targeted muscle activation via neurostimulation reverses or resolves muscle spindle fibrosis in a model of IVD injury.

The orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) is a large cortical structure, expansive across anterior-posterior axes. It is essential for flexibly updating learned behaviors, and paradoxically, also implicated in inflexible and compulsive-like behaviors. Here, we investigated mice bred to display inflexible reward-seeking behaviors that are insensitive to action consequences.

Tic douloureux, also known as trigeminal neuralgia, is distinguished by recurrent episodes of severe, lancinating pain that affects one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve, representing a prevalent pain syndrome. This condition has an annual incidence rate of 27 per 100,000 individuals. Nevertheless, direct compression caused by vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD) represents a considerably less frequent etiology of trigeminal neuralgia, with an estimated overall incidence of about 1%.

Ewing sarcoma family tumors (ESFT) pose diagnostic challenges, which largely depend on the primary site of involvement and tumor stage. Despite advancements in treatment, metastatic ESFTs remain associated with poor outcomes. This case describes a 21-year-old woman who, in July 2022, presented with a left breast mass identified through ultrasound and CT scan, along with abdominal distention.
