Objective: To determine myocardial infarct (MI) size during cardiovascular magnetic resonance at 1.5 Tesla using 0.1 mmol/kg body weight of gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA) and 0.2 mmol/kg body weight of gadopentetate dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA).
Methods: Twenty participants (16 men, 4 women), aged 58 +/- 12 years, with a prior chronic MI were imaged in a crossover design. Participants received 0.2 mmol/kg body weight of Gd-DTPA and 0.1 mmol/kg body weight of Gd-BOPTA on 2 occasions separated by 3 to 7 days.
Results: The correlations were high between Gd-DTPA and Gd-BOPTA measures of infarct volume (r = 0.93) and the percentage of infarct relative to left ventricular myocardial volume (r = 0.85). The size and location of the infarcts were similar (P = 0.9) for the 2 contrast agents. Interobserver correlation of infarct volume (r = 0.91) was high.
Conclusions: In chronic MI, late gadolinium enhancement identified with a single 0.1 mmol/kg body weight dose of Gd-BOPTA is associated in volume and location to a double (0.2 mmol/kg body weight) dose of Gd-DTPA. Lower doses of higher relaxivity contrast agents should be considered for determining left ventricular myocardial infarct size.

Paracetamol has antipyretic and analgesic properties and it is widely used for fever and pain. However, paracetamol is partially metabolized to N-acetyl-p-benzoquinoneimine, which in overdose leads to liver necrosis, urging for safer paracetamol analogues. As the latter, new para-aminophenol derivatives containing fragments of acetic acid, saturated fatty acids and monoethanolamine were synthesized.

Gadopiclenol is a novel, macrocyclic high-relaxivity gadolinium-based contrast agent recently approved for use in magnetic resonance imaging of the central nervous system and body organs at a dose of 0.05 mmol/kg body weight. Postmarketing surveillance of its first year of clinical use in the United States of America showed no serious adverse events (AEs) following over 882,550 administrations and a very low rate of nonserious AEs (1 case every 27,580 exposures).

It is not clear if fat oxidation is attenuated at higher exercise intensities, when exercising with a small muscle mass, and therefore, we studied leg fat oxidation during graded one-leg exercise. Ten males (age: 27 ± 2 years, body mass: 82 ± 3 kg, BMI: 24 ± 1 kg m, V̇O: 49 ± 2 mL min kg) performed one-leg exercise at 25% of maximal workload (W) for 30 min, followed by 120-min exercise at 55% W with the contralateral leg, and finally 30-min exercise at 85% W with the first leg. Blood was sampled from an artery and both femoral veins, and blood flow was determined using Doppler ultrasound.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the suppressive effects of β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) administration on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in broiler chickens.
Methods: Twenty-day-old male broiler chickens were randomly allocated to three groups, each of which was treated with saline (control), intraperitoneal administration of LPS [1.5 mg/kg body weight (BW), O127:B8], or LPS plus BHB (3 mmol/kg BW).
