Data suggests that the P86L polymorphism (rs2986017) in the calcium homeostasis modulator 1 (CALHM1) gene interferes with CALHM1 functionality, increases Abeta levels, and is associated with late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD). Previous studies have demonstrated association with P86L and LOAD in three of five case-control cohorts, and a joint analysis of all datasets showed association with a p-value of 2 x 10(-10) and an allele-specific odds ratio of 1.44 (2,043 cases, 1,361 controls total). In this short communication we attempt to replicate these results in our case-control cohort (510 cases, 524 controls). We show no association between P86L and LOAD despite having sufficient power to detect at the reported odds ratios, and briefly discuss potential reasons for the discrepancy.

Introduction Neonatal sepsis is defined as a systemic illness caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi, characterized by hemodynamic abnormalities and clinical findings that result in morbidity and mortality. Neonatal morbidity and mortality are significantly influenced by neonatal sepsis. Causative pathogens and antimicrobial sensitivity profiles have changed over time, with significant geographic variation.

Purpose: To describe the top three causative organisms of hospital acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in Thailand.

Patients And Methods: This multi-center retrospective cohort study included HAP/VAP patients hospitalized in 2019 in three university-affiliated hospitals and a private hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. Medical records of patients with a documented diagnosis of nosocomial pneumonia (NP) were systematically reviewed to collect data on demographic, clinical, microbiological, and 30-day readmission due to NP.

Background Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) is an age-related condition involving abnormal ossification of soft tissues, including ligaments and joint capsules. Patients with DISH have an increased risk of fractures, especially in ankylosed spines, which increases susceptibility to spinal cord injury. This study aimed to explore the risk factors for neurological symptoms in patients with DISH-related fractures.

Introduction: Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is characterized by eosinophilic granulomatous vasculitis. Typical symptoms include late-onset bronchial asthma and blood and tissue eosinophilia. In addition to these characteristic symptoms, EGPA can affect important organs such as the skin, kidneys, heart, sinuses, gastrointestinal tract, and nervous system.

Background: Developmental regression in children, in the absence of neurological damage or trauma, presents a significant diagnostic challenge. The complexity is further compounded when it is associated with psychotic symptoms.

Method: We discuss a case series of ten children aged 6-10 years, with neurotypical development, presenting with late-onset developmental regression (>6 years of age), their clinical course and outcome at 1 year.
