Article Abstract
An 80-year-old man with rectal cancer who had diabetes and angina was treated with high-dose-rate intraluminal brachytherapy (30 Gy) following external radiotherapy (30 Gy). After this treatment, anal pain and bleeding improved greatly, and he was able to evacuate the bowels. However, the endoscopic biopsy taken five months after treatment revealed active cancer cells.
