Submicrometer ZnO tubes have been synthesized by a polymer based template approach using sol-gel deposition. Zinc acetate, a precursor to ZnO, was deposited on catalytically active electrospun polycarbonate fibers approximately 250+/-100 nm in diameter. Thermal degradation of the core fibers resulted in the oxidation of zinc acetate to produce ZnO nanotubes with diameters of approximately 500+/-100 nm and an average wall thickness of approximately 100+/-50 nm. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy were used to characterize the composition, structure, and morphology of the tubes. Powder X-ray diffraction results showed that a wurtzite crystalline phase was obtained. The UV-visible absorption spectrum was red-shifted by 25 nm due to narrowing of the ZnO band gap (approximately 3.22 eV) as a result of Co doping. Similarly, green band emission was not observed in the emission spectrum, while emission lifetime was determined to be 620 ps from photoluminescence studies.

We present a novel method for preparing bioactive and biomineralized calcium phosphate (mCP)-loaded biopolymer composite scaffolds with a porous structure. Two types of polymers were investigated as matrices: one natural, cellulose acetate (CA), and one synthetic, polycaprolactone (PCL). Biomineralized calcium phosphate particles were synthesized via wet chemical precipitation, followed by the addition of organic biominerals, such as magnesium gluconate and zinc gluconate, to enhance the bioactivity of the pure CP phase.

Copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) demonstrates high working voltage, convenient synthesis methods, and economic benefits. However, capacity decay of CuHCF//Zn full cells is usually observed in aqueous electrolytes due to the dissolution of Cu and Fe, as indicated by the irreversible insertion of Zn ions and the consequent formation of ZnCuHCF. To address these challenges, a cathode-oriented electrolyte engineering design employing a methyl acetate (MA) co-solvent with zinc triflate (Zn(OTf)) salt electrolyte is implemented.

The production of medicinal plants under stressful environments offers an alternative to meet the requirements of sustainable agriculture. The action of mycorrhizal fungus; Funneliformis mosseae and zinc in stimulating growth and stress tolerance in medicinal plants is an intriguing area of research. The current study evaluated the combined use of nano-zinc and mycorrhizal fungus on the physiochemical responses of Dracocephalum moldavica under salinity stress.

Fluorine-containing compounds have shown unparalleled impacts in the realm of functional molecules, and the ability to prepare novel structures has been crucial in unlocking new properties for applications in pharmaceutical and materials science. Herein, we report a copper-catalyzed, photoinduced defluorinative C‒O coupling between trifluoromethylarenes and alcohols. This method allows for direct access to a wide selection of difluorobenzylether (ArCF2OR) molecules, including a compound displaying liquid crystal behavior.

A novel metal-organic framework (MOF), (Cu-S)MOF, with a copper-sulfur planar structure was applied to photocatalytic H production application. (Cu-S)MOF@ZnS nanocomposite was synthesized using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal approach. The formation of (Cu-S)MOF and wurtzite ZnS in the composite nanoparticles was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM).
