Selenocysteine (Sec) is co-translationally incorporated into selenoproteins at a reprogrammed UGA codon. In mammals, this requires a dedicated machinery comprising a stem-loop structure in the 3' UTR RNA (the SECIS element) and the specific SECIS Binding Protein 2. In this report, disorder-prediction methods and several biophysical techniques showed that ca. 70% of the SBP2 sequence is disordered, whereas the RNA binding domain appears to be folded and functional. These results are consistent with a recent report on the role of the Hsp90 chaperone for the folding of SBP2 and other functionally unrelated proteins bearing an RNA binding domain homologous to SBP2.

Polyomavirus enhancer activator 3 (PEA3), an ETS transcription factor, has been documented to regulate the development and metastasis of human cancers. Nonetheless, a thorough analysis examining the relationship between the PEA3 subfamily members and tumour development, prognosis, and the tumour microenvironment (TME) across various cancer types has not yet been conducted. The expression profiles and prognostic significance of the PEA3 subfamily were evaluated using data from the GEO, TCGA, and PrognoScan databases, in conjunction with COX regression analyses and the Kaplan-Meier Plotter.

Heart transplantation remains the ultimate treatment strategy for neonates and children with medically refractory end-stage heart failure and utilization of donors after circulatory death (DCD) can expand th donor pool. We have previously shown that mitochondrial transplantation preserves myocardial function and viability in neonatal swine DCD hearts to levels similar to that observed in donation after brain death (DBD). Herein, we sought to investigate the transcriptomic and proteomic pathways implicated in these phenotypic changes using ex situ perfused swine hearts.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as crucial regulators in cancer progression. We found lncRNA DNM1P35 is elevated in ovarian tumors compared to normal tissues, and demonstrated that lncRNA DNM1P35 promoted cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion in SK-OV-3 and OVCAR-3 cell lines. Furthermore, lncRNA DNM1P35 also facilitated the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of ovarian cancer cells.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a crucial phytohormone that regulates plant growth and stress responses. While substantial knowledge exists about transcriptional regulation, the molecular mechanisms underlying ABA-triggered translational regulation remain unclear. Recent advances in deep sequencing of ribosome footprints (Ribo-seq) enable the mapping and quantification of mRNA translation efficiency.

Background: Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome is a monogenic type 1 interferonopathy with infantile onset, characterized by a variable degree of neurological damage. Approximately 7% of Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome cases are caused by pathogenic variants in the ADAR gene and are classified as Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome type 6. Here, we present a new homozygous pathogenic variant in the ADAR gene.
