Department of Cardiology and Cardio-Vascular Surgery, Hopital Cardiologique de Haut-Leveque, Pessac, FRA.

Pulmonary artery aneurysm (PAA) is a rare disorder with a difficult diagnosis and debated management in literature due to the limited number of cases. Even if the definitive treatment of PAA is surgery, consistent guidelines still need to be developed to help surgeons determine when intervention is appropriate. We report a case of a 77-year-old female diagnosed with central PAA measuring 61 mm at contrast-enhanced computerized tomography scan which was treated surgically.

Unlabelled: was to show the capabilities of endovascular occlusion of giant posttraumatic pseudo-aneurysm of superior mesenteric artery (SMA) connected to a mesenteric arteriovenous fistula (AVF) under the conditions of portal hypertension and life-threatening esophageal variceal bleeding.

Materials And Methods: A 27-old male patient underwent endovascular occlusion; the patient being hospitalized with a clinical picture of gastrointestinal bleeding. The examinations: ultrasound, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, multispiral computed tomography with angiography - revealed the source of bleeding to be esophageal varices against the background of portal hypertension caused by massive arteriovenous shunt, its source being AVF with an aneurysmal component (32×35 mm in size) between SMA and superior mesenteric vein (SMV) dilated up to 50 mm in diameter.

Cardiovascular Research Center, Shahid Madani Heart Center, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran.

Background: Aortic coarctation (CoAo) accounts for 6 to 8% of all congenital heart diseases and occurs two to five times more often in males. The uncorrected aortic coarctation is complicated by hypertension, ascending and descending aortic aneurysms, endarteritis, and heart failure. The aortic pseudo-aneurysm (APD) usually occurs in patients with endarteritis.

The differential diagnosis of true aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms is challenging, and multimodality cardiac imaging is often necessary. We report a case in which the limitations of these techniques are exposed, showing that post-operative evaluation of tissue layers remains the gold standard in establishing this diagnosis. ().
