There are very few items of medical equipment specifically designed for hyperbaric use; and little information is available about medical equipment already tested for hyperbaric use. Hyperbaricists are usually left to their own devices in making a determination about the safe and effective use of standard medical equipment in the hyperbaric setting. This article proposes a logical and systematic process to arrive at this determination. The process involves seven steps beginning with a need assessment and ending with endorsement by appropriate individuals. The discussion of decision steps includes identifying risk elements, compliance with safety standards, testing, and documentation.

The therapeutic effectiveness of acupuncture relies on both safety and stability, making these factors essential in acupuncture manipulation research. However, manual manipulation introduces unavoidable inaccuracies, which can impact the reliability of research findings. To address this challenge, a unique lifting and thrusting manipulation control cannula was designed in this study, offering flexible adjustment of movement amplitude.

Background: Multiple diseases, such as Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), present at adolescent age and the impact on quality of life (QoL) prolongs into adulthood. For the EQ-5D, a commonly used instrument to measure QoL, the current guideline is ambiguous whether the youth or adult version is to be preferred at adolescent age. To assess which is most suitable, this study tested for equivalence along predefined criteria of the youth (EQ-5D-5L) and adult (EQ-5D-Y-5L) version in an adolescent population receiving bracing therapy for AIS.

The Swedish quality register AmbuReg collects all the country's ambulance missions. There is an increasing demand on the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) due to decreasing hospital resources and referral to self-care, primary care and mobile teams. This, in combination with fast tracks for patients with myocardial infarction, stroke, hip fracture or sepsis, increases the requirement for optimal triage at the scene.

Cardiac Positron Emission Tomography (PET) can be used for the assessment of myocardial perfusion. Compared to other cardiac imaging techniques, notably Single Photon Emission Computer Tomography (SPECT), cardiac PET offers superior image resolution, higher accuracy, quantitative measures of myocardial perfusion, lower radiation exposure, and shorter image acquisition time. However, PET tends to be costlier and less widely available than SPECT due to the specialized equipment needed for generating the necessary radiotracers.
