Bevacizumab (Avastin, Genentech, Inc, San Francisco, CA), a humanized monoclonal antibody against vascular endothelial growth factor, was recently approved for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.A PubMed and OVID search was performed using keywords: bevacizumab, Avastin, wound healing, VEGF, angiogenesis, and colorectal cancer. Our objective was to review the current literature in regard to bevacizumab and its adverse effects on surgical wound healing.Bevacizumab has been associated with multiple complications in regard to wound healing, such as dehiscence, ecchymosis, surgical site bleeding, and wound infection. Current literature suggests patients should wait at least 6 to 8 weeks (>40 days) after cessation to have surgery (half-life = 20 days). In addition, postoperative reinitiation of bevacizumab must wait > or =28 days to prevent an increased risk of wound healing complications, and the surgical incision should be fully healed. The adverse effects of bevacizumab in regard to wound healing must be considered in all surgical patients.

Objectives: This study aimed to comprehensively investigate the molecular landscape of gastric cancer (GC) by integrating various bioinformatics tools and experimental validations.
Methodology: GSE79973 dataset, limma package, STRING, UALCAN, GEPIA, OncoDB, cBioPortal, DAVID, TISIDB, Gene Set Cancer Analysis (GSCA), tissue samples, RT-qPCR, and cell proliferation assay were employed in this study.
Results: Analysis of the GSE79973 dataset identified 300 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), from which COL1A1, COL1A2, CHN1, and FN1 emerged as pivotal hub genes using protein-protein interaction network analysis.

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a subtype of pemphigus and life-altering disorder that results in the formation of intraepithelial blisters in mucosa and skin. Though the etiology is not well understood, it is an autoimmune disorder resulting in acantholytic blisters due to auto-antibodies targeting proteins of keratinocyte adhesion. Rapid diagnosis and restoration of the epidermal layer is imperative for patients with PV as widespread epidermal damage can lead to high morbidity and mortality rates.

Objective: The integrity of the plantar flap is important for transmetatarsal amputation (TMA) classic closure. However, in ischemic wounds, the plantar flap can be compromised, making the TMA coverage difficult. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of rotational vs long plantar flaps for transmetatarsal amputation closure in patients with dysvascular partial foot amputations.

The bacterial infection and oxidative wound microenvironment delay skin repair and necessitate intelligent wound dressings to enable scarless wound healing. The immunoglobulin of yolk (IgY) exhibits immunotherapeutic potential for the potential treatment of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens, while cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO NPs) could scavenge superoxide dismutase (SOD) and inflammation. The overarching objective of this study was to incorporate IgY and CeO NPs into poly(L-lactide-co-glycolide)/gelatin (PLGA/Gel)-based dressings (P/G@IYCe) for infected skin repair.

Human amniotic membrane (hAM) has been extensively used for several decades as a bioactive scaffold for regenerative medicine. In its cryopreserved form-one of the main storage formats-the presence of viable cells has often been questioned. Furthermore, there is little published evidence of the role of endogenous amniotic cells from cryopreserved hAM in tissue repair.
