Aims: The aim was to determine the effect of socioeconomic deprivation on operative mortality after emergency laparotomy.
Methods: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis (random-effects modeling) was performed searching for studies comparing operative mortality between the least and the most socioeconomically deprived patients undergoing emergency laparotomy. Both unadjusted and adjusted odds ratio (OR) were calculated as summary measure.

ASS1(argininosuccinate synthase 1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the urea cycle, catalyzing the synthesis of argininosuccinate from citrulline and aspartate to ultimately produce arginine and support cellular metabolism. Increasing evidence suggests that ASS1 is commonly dysregulated in the tumor microenvironment, promoting tumor cell metastasis and infiltration. With a deeper understanding of tumor metabolic reprogramming in recent years, the impact of ASS1 dysregulation on abnormal tumor metabolism has attracted growing interest among researchers.

Objective: Ovarian cancer significantly impacts women's reproductive health and remains challenging to diagnose and treat. Despite advancements in understanding DNA repair mechanisms and identifying novel therapeutic targets, additional strategies are still needed. Recently, a novel form of cell death called disulfidptosis, which is triggered by glucose deprivation, has been linked to treatment resistance and changes in the tumor microenvironment (TME).

Background: Malignant salivary gland tumors (SGTs) present diagnostic challenges and limited treatment options. This study aims to determine the proportion of malignant SGTs overexpressing the androgen receptor (AR) by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and its association to age, sex, anatomical site, histopathological subtype and grade which may inform customized treatment approaches.
Methodology: This was a retrospective cross-sectional analytical study of archived paraffin embedded tissue blocks of malignant SGTs diagnosed at MNH Central Pathology Laboratory (CPL) from January 2019 to December 2022.
