The study was carried out to ascertain the antibacterial properties inherent in fermented seed extracts of Ricinus communis. Dry seeds of R. communis (Castor oil plant) were deshelled, grounded to powder, fermented, and then extracted both with alcohol and water using Soxhlet machine. Different concentrations of the extracts were tested against selected bacteria using diffusion method of susceptibility testing on sensitivity testing agar medium. Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, and Staphylococcus aureus were highly susceptible to both the methanol and water extracts of the seed while Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed reduced susceptibility. Enterococcus faecalis on the other hand was resistant to all the preparations tested. The active antimicrobial ingredients in fermented R. communis seeds should be identified while its medicinal value to humans properly investigated.

This study developed a portable arc iKnife ionization mass spectrometry (AII-MS) technique integrating a surgical knife with low-temperature arc plasma to interact with plant tissues. The thermal energy from the arc plasma induces the sputtering of water-containing plant tissues, leading to the formation of aerosols. These aerosols are then charged by plasma-generated ions, producing charged microdroplets that are ultimately detected by a mass spectrometer.

synthesizes aromatic amino acids (AAAs) through the common pathway to produce the precursor, chorismate, and the three terminal pathways to convert chorismate into Phe, Tyr, and Trp. also imports exogenous AAAs through five transporters. GcvB small RNA post-transcriptionally regulates more than 50 genes involved in amino acid uptake and biosynthesis in , but the full extent of GcvB regulon is still underestimated.

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of selected plant additives on changes in the content of fatty acids, lipid quality indicators and mineral composition of yogurts produced from cow's milk. The analysis included natural yogurts and yogurts enriched with 10% of chia seeds, hulled hemp seeds, quinoa seeds and oat bran. The fatty acid composition, the content of lipid quality indicators and the content of mineral components was varied in all analyzed yogurts.

Pistachio green hull (PGH) represents the non-edible fraction obtained after the seed is harvested and is an important source of phenolic compounds. Solid-state fermentation (SSF) is a viable biotechnological and economical technique for extracting phenolic compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the SSF with GH1 to recover total phenolic compounds (TPC) with antioxidant capacity (AC) from PGH.
