This paper presents advanced image analysis methods for extracting information from high speed Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) data obtained from turbulent flames. The application of non-linear anisotropic diffusion filtering and of Active Contour Models (Snakes) is described to isolate flame boundaries. In a subsequent step, the detected flame boundaries are tracked in time using a frequency domain contour interpolation scheme. The implementations of the methods are described and possible applications of the techniques are discussed.

Background: The non-ablative 1940-nm laser induces controlled thermal damage at superficial depths without ablating the epidermis.
Objective: We evaluated a new 1940-nm fractional diode laser for improving pigmentation and skin texture.
Materials And Methods: Participants with mild to severe benign pigmented lesions received up to three laser treatments.

MXenzymes, a promising class of catalytic therapeutic material, offer great potential for tumor treatment, but they encounter significant obstacles due to suboptimal catalytic efficiency and kinetics in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Herein, this study draws inspiration from the electronic structure of transition metal vanadium, proposing the leverage of TME specific-features to induce structural transformations in sheet-like vanadium carbide MXenzymes (TVMz). These transformations trigger cascading catalytic reactions that amplify oxidative stress, thereby significantly enhancing multimodal tumor therapy.

: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a promising treatment for cancer, primarily due to its ability to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that directly induce tumor cell death. However, the hypoxic microenvironment commonly found within tumors poses a significant challenge by inhibiting ROS production. This study aims to investigate the effect of improving tumor hypoxia on enhancing PDT.

Silver gallium sulfide (AgGaS) is a ternary ABX-type semiconductor featuring a direct bandgap and high chemical stability. Structurally resembling diamond, AgGaS has gained considerable attention as a highly promising material for nonlinear optical applications such as second harmonic generation and optical parametric oscillation. In attempts to expand the research scope, on the one hand, AgGaS-derived bulk materials with similar diamond-like configurations have been investigated for the enhancement of nonlinear optics performance, especially the improvement of laser-induced damage thresholds and/or nonlinear coefficients; on the other hand, nanoscale AgGaS and its derivatives have been synthesized with sizes as low as the exciton Bohr radius for the realization of potential applications in the fields of optoelectronics and lighting.
