Mammalian genome is hierarchically organized by CTCF and cohesin through loop extrusion mechanism to facilitate the organization of topologically associating domains (TADs). Mounting evidence suggests additional factors/mechanisms exist to orchestrate TAD formation and maintenance. In this study, we investigate the potential role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) in TAD organization.

Objective: In 2018, the Chinese tobacco industry initiated the nationwide 'civilised smoking environment' campaign via a 5-year action plan. The goal of this study was to analyse content of reports regarding this topic as evidence to policy-makers to prevent interference from the tobacco industry.
Methods: A search of WiseNews, a Chinese media information service provider, for reports regarding the 'civilised smoking environment' between January 2018 and December 2022.

β-ketoacyl-CoA synthase (KCS) enzymes play a pivotal role in plants by catalyzing the first step of very long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) biosynthesis. This process is crucial for plant development and stress responses. However, the understanding of genes in maize remains limited.

Transcriptomics is a powerful approach for functional genomics and systems biology, yet it can also be used for genetic part discovery. Here, we derive constitutive and light-regulated promoters directly from transcriptomics data of the basidiomycete red yeast Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous CBS 6938 (anamorph Phaffia rhodozyma) and use these promoters with other genetic elements to create a modular synthetic biology parts collection for this organism. Berberine (BBR), an alkaloid derivative mostly found in Oregon grapes and barberry shoots, has several medical properties, including anti-microbial, anti-tumorigenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. As such, it is a superior alternative to presently recommended medications. From previous researches, which showed that BBR has anti-arthritic qualities by blocking a number of inflammatory signalling pathways.
