Lights... camera... action! a guide for creating a DVD/video.

Nurse Educ

Washington State University College of Nursing, Spoken Nursing 426D, PO Box 1495, Spokane, WA 99210-1495, USA.

Published: August 2009

The DVD/video format offers an educational program that is convenient, consistent, and interactive for the viewer. Faculty members are essential and instrumental in creating storyboards from a script, which is an initial step in the production of DVD/videos. The authors discuss how faculty can participate in the process of developing an educational DVD/video program.

EasyVis is an emerging immersive 3D laparoscopic visualization system for improving the efficiency of laparoscopic surgery. It integrates multiple micro-cameras and light sources with the surgical ports to provide intra-abdominal stereo vision of surgery at a desired viewpoint. In this work, we develop a visualization algorithm using the EasyVis micro-camera array assembly in a laparoscopic surgery training box environment with simplified training tasks to validate the feasibility of this novel technology.

In a chemosensing system, the local olfactory environment experienced by a foraging organism is defined as an odorscape. Using the nocturnal pink bollworm moth (Pectinophora gossypiella), we tested the combined effect of three biophysical aspects in its immediate odorscape to shed light on the coupling effects of biotic and abiotic factors on navigation performances of a nocturnal forager: i) the quality of the pheromone source, ii) the pheromone availability, and iii) the airflow characteristics. The navigation performance of the males was investigated using a wind tunnel assay equipped with 3D infrared high-speed cameras.

A simple pathway for complete polarization vision.

This paper introduces a novel method for achieving complete polarization vision through a full-Stokes polarization camera. Our technique employs a homogeneous dispersive retarder placed before a polarization sensor to harness wavelength-dependent retardation, enabling the differentiation of polarization states across the sensor's color channels. Assuming weak wavelength dependence of polarization for incoming light, this method facilitates the real-time, simultaneous measurement of the complete Stokes vector of incident light.

Block-based single-pixel imaging (SPI) systems use multiple detectors of a focal plane array to create highly parallel extensions of a single-pixel camera. This Letter presents what we believe to be a new approach for parallel single-pixel imaging that leverages the Talbot effect to scan an object with a short sequence of periodic light patterns encoded on a digital micromirror device (DMD). The unit cell of each periodic pattern corresponds to a Walsh-Hadamard (WH) matrix of low dimension.
