We demonstrate the use of Fourier transform infrared (IR) spectroscopy for midinfrared emission measurements following x-ray or electron excitation. Spectra from an InAs low band-gap semiconductor film, which emits in the IR from 3000 to 3400 cm(-1), are presented. There is good agreement between the present results and previously published laser-excited spectra. Using focused beams, it should be possible to perform sub-diffraction-limited IR imaging. In addition, simultaneous structural and electronic analysis could be performed using the x-ray or electron excitation probes.

Isoelectric Point of Metal Oxide Films Formed by Anodization.

Langmuir

January 2025

Chemistry and Structure of novel Materials, University of Siegen, Paul-Bonatz Strasse 9-11, 57068 Siegen, Germany.

The surface charge of metal oxides is an important property that significantly contributes to a wide range of phenomena, including adsorption, catalysis, and material science. The surface charge can be predicted by determining the isoelectric point (IEP) of a material and the pH of a solution. Although there have been several studies of the IEP of metal oxide (nano)particles, only a few have reported the IEP of metal oxide films.

Wastewater is commonly contaminated with many pharmaceutical pollutants, so an efficient purification method is required for their removal from wastewater. In this regard, an innovative tertiary Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was synthesized through encapsulation of metal organic frameworks (Fe-glutaric acid) onto Se/SnO-embedded-sodium carboxy methyl cellulose matrix to thoroughly evaluate its effectiveness for adsorption of levofloxacin drug from wastewater. The prepared Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was analyzed via UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to valuate optical property, size, morphology, thermal stability, and chemical composition.

A series of significantly bulky mono- and di-substituted cyclic alkyl-amino carbene (cAAC)- functionalized cyclopentadiene ring (Cp) compounds were synthesized. The functionalization of the Cp ring with cAAC ligands makes them significantly bulkier, while retaining their ligation properties. These compounds display interesting fluorescence properties.

Purpose: To compare remineralisation efficacy between silver diamine fluoride (SDF) combined with potassium iodide (KI) and sodium fluoride (NaF) varnish using hydroxyapatite (HAP) artificial white spot lesions (AWSLs) demineralisation model.

Materials And Methods: A total of 25 HAP disks was randomly divided into five groups (n = 5): baseline, AWSLs, deionized water (DW), SDF-KI or F-varnish. After AWSLs were developed, the specimen was treated with either deionized water, SDF-KI or F-varnish.

Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography has enabled significant reductions in device dimensions but is often limited by capillary force-driven pattern collapse in conventional wet processes. Recent dry-development approaches, while promising, frequently require toxic etchants or specialized equipment, limiting their broader applicability and highlighting the need for more sustainable, cost-effective alternatives. In this study, highly reactive, etchant-free dry-developable EUV photoresists using N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-based metal-ligand complexes, achieving half-saturation at EUV doses of 8.
