Septoplasty allows successful delivery in a primary aborter with six previous first trimester miscarriages.

Clin Exp Obstet Gynecol

Published: June 2009

Purpose: To demonstrate that septoplasty can correct a problem of recurrent miscarriage.

Methods: The patient was a primary aborter with a history of six consecutive miscarriages. Septoplasty by hysteroscopy/laparoscopy was performed. The septum was diagnosed by 3D sonohysterography.

Results: She delivered a healthy live baby at 36 weeks.

Conclusion: This case clearly demonstrates that sometimes the uterine septum plays an important role in recurrent miscarriage and that septoplasty can improve the chances of successful delivery. The case also shows that a definitive diagnosis of a bicornuate uterus by HSG and/or MRI can not be made.

Introduction: A leadless pacemaker (LLPM) was recommended for a patient with intermittent complete heart block and near-syncope.

Methods And Results: Delivery of LLPM is through a large sheath that has limited deflection and steerability. This report describes the successful deployment of a ventricular LLPM in a patient with prior surgical correction of AV septal defect with subsequent significant right atrial enlargement.

Introduction: Permanent implantation of a DF-4 implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) lead in the left bundle branch area (LBBA-ICD) is the next paradigm in amalgamating cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and defibrillation. We systematically investigated feasibility/success rate, procedural caveats, and complications associated with a permanent DF-4 LBBA ICD implant and pertinent data at short-term follow-up.

Methods: We prospectively attempted implantation of 7 Fr Durata (Abbott, Chicago, IL, USA) single coil DF-4 ICD lead at the LBBA using a fixed-curve non-deflectable CPS locator delivery sheath.

Developing human papillomavirus (HPV) therapeutic DNA vaccines requires an effective delivery system, such as cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs). In the current study, the multiepitope DNA constructs harboring the immunogenic and conserved epitopes of the L1, L2, and E7 proteins of HPV16/18 (pcDNA-L1-L2-E7 and pEGFP-L1-L2-E7) were delivered using KALA and REV CPPs with different properties in vitro and in vivo. Herein, after confirmation of the REV/DNA and KALA/DNA complexes, their stability was investigated against DNase I and serum protease.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Northeastern University, Boston, MA, 02115, USA.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of central vision loss in the elderly population. Bevacizumab, a full-length humanized monoclonal anti-VEGF antibody, is commonly used off-label drug to treat AMD. However, the dosing regimen of bevacizumab and other anti-VEGF antibodies requires monthly intravitreal injections followed by regular intravitreal injections at 4-16-week intervals.

Background: The success of vaccination programs depends on a complex interplay of logistical, social, and structural factors. The objective of this study was to analyze the different approaches to vaccine administration implemented by several Italian regions since the onset of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Methods: After careful qualitative review of information gathered from scientific articles, official reports (grey literature), contact with regional health authorities, and local health departments, five vaccination strategies across several Italian regions focusing on alternative vaccine providers and/or settings were identified.
