3,6-diaryl-2,5-dihydro-1,4-diketopyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (DPPD) derivatives are used commercially as red pigments, because of their color strength, brightness, and very low solubility in most common solvents. These products, although highly colored, appear to be of limited value as dyes, since they show a tendency to form an aggregate when incorporated into a solvent. Monoalkyl and dialkyl derivatives of DPPD were synthesized and then characterized with IR, 1HNMR, UV-Vis absorption and emission spectroscopy. Molar absorption coefficient, singlet energy level and Stokes' shift values of DPPD derivatives were declared. Monoalkyl and dialkyl derivatives of DPPD's solubilities were measured from saturated solutions of dimethylformamide (DMF), tetrahydrofuran (THF), dichloromethane (DCM), acetonitrile (ACN) and toluene and they are compared with each other.

The tire-rubber-derived ozonation product of -(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-'-phenyl--phenylenediamine (6PPD), -(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-'-phenyl--phenylenediamine-quinone (6PPD-Q), was recently discovered to cause acute mortality in coho salmon (). -Phenylenediamines (PPDs) with variable side chains distinct from 6PPD have been identified as potential replacement antioxidants, but their toxicities remain unclear under environmentally relevant ozone conditions. We herein tested the multiphase gas-surface ozone reactivity of four select PPDs [6PPD, -isopropyl-'-phenyl--phenylenediamine (IPPD), ,'-diphenyl--phenylenediamine (DPPD), and -phenyl-'-cyclohexyl--phenylenediamine (CPPD)] and evaluated the toxicity of their reaction mixtures in coho salmon, rainbow trout (), and fathead minnow ().

PPDs and their oxidation products, PPD-Qs, are emerging environmental contaminants arising from the addition and oxidation of rubber products. Although numerous studies have been conducted to elucidate their risks, the primary focus has been on 6PPD and 6PPD-Q, with limited attention given to other PPDs and especially other PPD-Qs. This study comprehensively examines the occurrences of frequently used PPDs and their degradation products, PPD-Qs, in human urine and breast milk samples.

Mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose tissue (AD-MSCs) have shown great potential in treating diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM).
