Recyclable organocatalysts: The first chiral DMAP analogue immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles is a highly active catalyst that is capable of the acylation of racemic sec-alcohols under convenient, process-scale friendly conditions (room temperature, 5 mol % loading, with acetic anhydride as the acylating agent) with excellent enantiodiscrimination. The catalyst is easily recovered and possesses unprecedented recyclability-in this study it was demonstrated to retain excellent activity and selectivity over 32 iterative cycles.

Catalytic asymmetric Michael and Nef-type sequential reaction of nitroolefin with azlactone to construct oxazole-fused succinimide.

A series of oxazole-fused succinimides bearing vicinal quaternary carbon centers were synthesized. This process takes place between nitroolefins and azlactones in the presence of a bifunctional chiral guanidine-sulfonamide organocatalyst, followed by a Nef-type transformation under the treatment of DMAP/AcO. Several control experiments were conducted to propose the mechanism.

A protocol for the construction of cycloheptatrienes has been developed. 4-(Dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) was found to be an efficient catalyst to promote the [4 + 3] annulation between coumalates and γ-alkyl-substituted allenoate or γ-aryl-3-butynoates to deliver a variety of cycloheptatrienes in moderate to good yield with excellent chemoselectivity. The asymmetric version of this annulation was also realized by using bifunctional phosphine catalyst to provide the chiral products with 32-97% ee and 29-64% yield.

alkaloid derivatives as Brønsted base catalysts have attracted considerable attention in the field of asymmetric catalysis. However, their potential application as chiral solvating agents has not been described. In this research, we investigated the use of the alkaloid dimer, namely, (DHQ)PHAL, as a chiral solvating agent for discerning various mandelic acid derivatives through H NMR spectroscopy.

Halogen-Bond-Promoted Direct Cross-Coupling of Trifluoromethylated Alkyl Bromides with Coumarins/Quinolinones: Unraveling Trifluoromethyl Effects.

This study introduces a novel approach involving XB-mediated cross-coupling of α-trifluoromethylated alkyl bromides with coumarins and quinolinones under visible light irradiation. Both density functional theory (DFT) calculations and experimental studies converge to suggest that the noncovalent interaction between alkyl bromides and DMAP, intensified by the α-trifluoromethyl group, plays a pivotal role in facilitating this chemoselective reaction.

Ring-fused aminal is an interesting structural skeleton in biologically active and pharmaceutically relevant compounds. A novel and efficient method for synthesizing benzosulfamidate-fused tetrahydroquinazolines is described. By employing the [4+2]-cycloaddition of 2-aminophenyl enones with cyclic N-sulfimines in the presence of DMAP as a base, the desired benzosulfamidate-fused tetrahydroquinazolines were obtained in good yields with high diastereoselectivities.
