Three Klebsiella oxytoca isolates and one Klebsiella pneumoniae isolate from three children admitted to the Hematology Unit of Hospital Vall d'Hebron (Barcelona, Spain) exhibited a susceptibility pattern suggesting OXY beta-lactamase hyperproduction. All the isolates contained a 95-kb plasmid that harbored bla(OXY-1), which was transferred by electrotransformation but could not be self-transferred by conjugation. A qnrS1 gene was also harbored in the bla(OXY-1)-carrying plasmid. This is the first report of a plasmid-encoded OXY beta-lactamase.

Objectives: This study describes the detection and tracking of emergency neurosurgical cross-transmission infections with carbapenem-resistant (CRKO).
Methods: We conducted an epidemiological investigation and a rapid screening of 66 surveillance samples using the chromogenic selective medium. Two CRKO isolates from infected patients and three from the preoperative shaving razors had similar resistance profiles identified by the clinical laboratory.

Introduction: The rising prevalence of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing species (spp.) poses a significant threat to human and animal health and environmental safety. To address this pressing issue, a comprehensive study was undertaken to elucidate the burden and dissemination mechanisms of ESBL- spp.

Leminorella grimontii strain LG-KP-E1-2-T0 was isolated from Zophobas morio larvae. It showed a susceptibility phenotype compatible with the expression of an inducible extended-spectrum β-lactamase. The presence of a chromosomal bla gene encoding for the class A GRI-1 β-lactamase was revealed by whole-genome sequencing.

Raw milk and dairy products can serve as potential vectors for transmissible bacterial, viral and protozoal diseases, alongside harboring antimicrobial-resistance genes. This study monitors the changes in the antimicrobial-resistance gene pool in raw milk and cheese, from farm to consumer, utilizing next-generation sequencing. Five parallel sampling runs were conducted to assess the resistance gene pool, as well as phage or plasmid carriage and potential mobility.
