This study examined whether the quality of end-of-life home medical care affected caregiver's psychological recovery from bereavement. We analyzed survey responses from an anonymous self-administered questionnaire from 147 bereaved family members (caregivers). Questionnaire content included information on the quality of end-of-life home medical care, feelings during bereavement and present feelings. Results showed that caregiver regret during bereavement was significantly associated with present feelings about loss regardless of the length of time after death of a loved one. Aspects of end-of-life support that were statistically significant at minimizing regret during bereavement were: (1) fulfilled home medical care service system, (2) peaceful death of the patient, and (3) providing direct care by the caregiver. These findings suggest that end-of-life support to minimize caregiver regret during bereavement was crucial for better subsequent adaptation to bereavement.

Bereavement scholarship predominantly examines psychological aspects of grief, which neglects the role of social, economic, and political factors that shape the space to accommodate these experiences. Responding to calls for enhancing bereavement care, this research explores bereavement accommodation for workers in precarious employment in Ontario, Canada. Drawing on critical qualitative research and feminist ethics, this study employed in-depth interviews to generate knowledge on the everyday experiences of bereaved workers in precarious employment.

Background: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the existing literature on grief in family carers of people with dementia in Japan and to synthesise the evidence on the prevalence and associated factors of pre- and post-death grief of the carers.
Methods: CiNii Research, J-STAGE, and ICHUSHI were searched for studies published in Japanese and MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and CINAHL for studies written in English up to 30 November, 2023.
Results: Of the 315 references identified, eight studies that met the eligibility criteria were included: six studies investigated pre-death grief, and two studies investigated post-death grief.
