We developed an efficient cell culture system for genotype 4 hepatitis E virus using the HE-JF5/15F strain recovered from a fulminant hepatitis patient. The sixth-passage virus in the culture supernatant reached 1.5 x 10(8) copies/ml at 10 days postinoculation and possessed 10 nucleotide mutations with four amino acid changes.

We conducted a survey for domestic cat hepadnavirus, an analog of human hepatitis B virus, in the endangered felid species Iberian lynx. Results revealed specific antibodies in 32.3% of serum samples and DNA in 0.

HIV-2 infection although less virulent compared to HIV-1 is endemic in many parts of West Africa. In Burkina Faso, few data exist on HIV-2 genotypic resistance. The objective of this study was to assess HIV-2 genotypic resistance and viral load in adult patients infected with HIV-2 in Burkina Faso.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) poses a serious threat to both public health and animal food safety, thereby highlighting the demands for rapid, sensitive, and easy-to-use detection. This study aimed to develop a One-Pot assay using CRISPR/Cas13a for detecting HEV RNA, suitable for point-of-care testing (POCT) in resource-limited settings. CRISPR/Cas13a combined with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and reverse transcription recombinase-aided amplification (RT-RAA) was applied to a One-Pot assay device.

Background: A substantial number of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections have been diagnosed and reported, yet not all reported patients have received treatment, leading to uncertainties in the progression of the virus within these cases. This study aimed to assess the rate of HCV RNA positivity in the reported cases in Chongqing, China and identify key groups.
Methods: An investigation was conducted on 6,333 hepatitis C cases who were reported in the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention in 17 districts of Chongqing, China from 2004 to 2021.

The zoonotic hepatitis E virus (HEV) can cause acute and chronic hepatitis in humans. Meat from domestic pigs, which represent a major animal reservoir of HEV, plays a key role in HEV transmission. Although pork meat products can contain HEV-RNA, it is unknown whether infectious HEV is still present after their manufacturing process.
