A New fluorescent sensor based on a perylene-dpa-Zn platform was synthesized. Selective "Off-On" type fluorescence changes were observed upon the addition of UTP and UDP, which was also applied to monitor glycosylation processes.

The fluorescent imaging of pathologically accumulated β-amyloid (Aβ) proteins is of significant importance to the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In the paper, we prepared two new NIR probes, NIR-1 and NIR-2, through hydrophilic modification of introducing water-soluble bioactive groups such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) and morpholine to tune in vivo pharmacokinetics for specific detection of soluble and insoluble Aβ species. The in vitro assessments confirm that both NIR-1 and NIR-2 display strong near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence (FL) enhancement upon association with Aβ42 monomers, oligomers or aggregates (λem > 670 nm) and show high sensitive, rapid and selective response towards Aβ42 species.

Among the various aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) assays, performing accurate detection is difficult because false positives and false negatives are frequent due to limited sensitivity, expensive equipment, or inadequate pretreatment during operation. Here, an "off-on" switch-type electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor armed with cobalt-sulfur quantum dots was encapsulated in hollow cobalt-layered double hydroxide nanocages as an enhanced luminescent probe (Co-LDH@QDs), and a ferrocene-modified aptamer (Fc-APT) was used as a luminescent quencher. In general, when Fc-APT was hybridized with complementary DNA modified with a DNA nanotetrahedron, electron transfer between ferrocene and Co-LDH@QDs was facilitated, leading to efficient quenching of the ECL intensity into an "off" state in the absence of AFB1.

With the aim to develop a FRET-based viscosity sensor, two dyad molecules, and , comprising tetraarylpyrrolo[3,2-]pyrrole (TAPP) (donor) and naked boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes (acceptor), were designed. Dyads were synthesized via acid-catalyzed multicomponent reactions followed by Sonogashira coupling. In both dyads, the BODIPY and TAPP moieties are linked through phenylethynyl groups, which allow free rotation of the BODIPY dyes; that is, they can act as molecular rotors.

Background: Pain fluctuations are a characteristic phenomenon in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), but their temporal association with motor and non-motor symptom (NMS) fluctuations remains largely enigmatic. Moreover, data on their importance for disease severity perception and health-related quality-of-life (hr-QoL) is limited.
Objective: To dissect pain fluctuations with respect to pain type and frequency patterns, and their association with motor and non-motor fluctuations.
