Background: Ciprofol, a novel intravenous anesthetic, which has primarily been used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults, is characterized by rapid onset, short duration of action, and quick and smooth recovery. However, the pharmacokinetic characteristics of continuous infusions and the correlation between the plasma concentration and the bispectral index (BIS) in elderly patients are still unknown.

Method: In this randomized, controlled study, thirty elderly patients (62-78 years old) undergoing elective gastrointestinal tumor resection were treated with propofol (N = 15) or ciprofol (N = 15) as sedatives during anesthesia.

Background: The purpose of this study was to look into any potential connections between the occurrence of colon cancer and the condition of the body of lipid accumulation product (LAP) index.

Methods: Using data from the 2009-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), we performed a cross-sectional analysis with 24,592 individuals. Utilizing multivariate logistic regression modelling, the relationship between LAP levels and colon cancer risk was investigated.

To investigate the clinicopathological features, diagnosis, genetic alterations, and biological behaviors of hamartomatous inverted hyperplastic polyp (HIHP) in the gastrointestinal tract. The clinical, sonographic, endoscopic and pathologic data of 10 HIHP cases diagnosed at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University, Xi'an, China from January 2013 to March 2024 were collected. Their clinicopathological features and histological morphology were analyzed.

Organoid technology, as an innovative approach in biomedicine, exhibits promising prospects in disease modeling, pharmaceutical screening, regenerative medicine, and oncology research. However, the use of tumor-derived Matrigel as the primary method for culturing organoids has significantly impeded the clinical translation of organoid technology due to concerns about potential risks, batch-to-batch instability, and high costs. To address these challenges, this study innovatively introduced a photo-crosslinkable hydrogel made from a porcine small intestinal submucosa decellularized matrix (SIS), fish collagen (FC), and methacrylate gelatin (GelMA).

Antioxidant and Laxative Effects of Methanol Extracts of Green Pine Cones () in Sprague-Dawley Rats with Loperamide-Induced Constipation.

Antioxidants (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Biomaterials Science (BK 21 FOUR Program), Life and Industry Convergence Research Institute, College of Natural Resources and Life Science, Pusan National University, Miryang 50463, Republic of Korea.

Oxidative stress is the key cause of the etiopathogenesis of several diseases associated with constipation. This study examined whether the green pine cone can improve the symptoms of constipation based on the antioxidant activities. The changes in the key parameters for the antioxidant activity and laxative effects were examined in the loperamide (Lop)-induced constipation of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats after being treated with the methanol extracts of green pine cone (MPC, unripe fruits of ).
