Orbiniid phylogeny is matter of debate and incongruence between hypothesis based on molecules and morphology has been repeatedly reported. Moreover, the phylogenetic position of the "oligochaetoid polychaetes" of the taxon Questa varies between morphological and molecular cladistic analyses. Here, we present a nearly complete mitochondrial genome of Questa ersei. The mitochondrial gene order is roughly identical to known orbiniid taxa. Several translocations of tRNAs are unique to Orbiniidae and Questa when compared to other annelid mitochondrial genomes. Additionally, we assembled sequence data of six genes (18S, 16S, cox1, cox3, nad1, nad4) for a representative orbiniid taxon sampling and analysed all data in concatenation using Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian inference. For comparison with morphology we compiled a morphological data matrix for all taxa included in our molecular analyses. Our results strongly support a close relationship of Questa with orbiniids (sequence data, gene order, an 18bp indel, morphology), and a position nested within orbiniids is recovered in our sequence based analyses. We demonstrate remarkable incongruence of most included morphological characters with the recovered best ML tree and suppose that repeated independent character loss might be an explanation.

Objectives: Hearing aids (HAs) are a widely accepted first-line treatment option for individuals suffering from both hearing loss and chronic tinnitus. Though HAs are highly effective at improving speech understanding, their effectiveness in ameliorating tinnitus symptoms is less clear. In recent years, several investigators have reported on attempts to predict HAs effectiveness on tinnitus symptoms using an array of variables.

The further success of OLED beyond conventional low-luminance display applications has been hampered by the low power efficiency (PE) at high luminance. Here, we demonstrate the strategic implementation of an exceptionally high-PE, high-luminance OLED using a phosphor-assisted thermally-activated-delayed-fluorescence (TADF)-sensitized narrowband emission. On the basis of a TADF sensitizing-host possessing a fast reverse intersystem crossing, an anti-aggregation-caused-quenching character and a good bipolar charge-transporting ability, this design achieves not only a 100% exciton radiative consumption with decay times mainly in the sub-microsecond regime to mitigate exciton annihilations for nearly roll-off-free external quantum efficiency, but also narrowband emission with both small energetic loss during energy transfer and resistive loss with increasing luminance.

The brown howler, , endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil and Argentina, is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting, and its susceptibility to yellow fever. Two subspecies have been recognized, but their names, validity, and geographic ranges have been controversial. We obtained samples covering the species' entire distribution in Brazil and Argentina to clarify these issues by investigating their genetic diversity and structure and assessing their evolutionary history.

Spin-lattice relaxation constitutes a key challenge for the development of quantum technologies, as it destroys superpositions in molecular quantum bits (qubits) and magnetic memory in single molecule magnets (SMMs). Gaining mechanistic insight into the spin relaxation process has proven challenging owing to a lack of spectroscopic observables and contradictions among theoretical models. Here, we use pulse electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) to profile changes in spin relaxation rates ( ) as a function of both temperature and magnetic field orientation, forming a two-dimensional data matrix.

The search for stable compounds containing an antiaromatic cyclic 4π system is a challenge for inventive chemists that can look back on a long history. Here we report the isolation and characterization of the novel 4π-electron tetrasilacyclobutadiene, an analogue of a 4π neutral cyclobutadiene that exhibits surprising features of a Möbius-type aromatic ring. Reduction of RSiCl (R = (Pr)PCH) with KC in the presence of cycloalkyl amino-carbene (cAAC) led to the formation of corresponding silylene 1.
