A highly sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of 3- to 5-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has been developed. A functional derivative of dibenzothiophene was synthesized and covalently linked to carrier proteins that were used to produce monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). During the conjugation step, the conjugation efficiency was improved by the presence of 25% N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). Antibodies were selected based on a competitive inhibition assay to isolate those with the highest sensitivity for free PAHs. When using the mAb in an ELISA format, free PAHs were detected at a concentration as low as 0.1 microg/L (0.1 ppb) in aqueous samples.

The combination of anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibodies (mAb) and doublet chemotherapy is the standard first-line treatment for patients with wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Some patients may require secondary resection after first-line treatment. However, it remains unclear whether targeted therapy should be continued after liver resection.

Detection of the HTT exon 1 protein (HTTex1p) has been accomplished with surrogate antibodies in fluorescence-based reporter assays (MSD, HTRF), and immunoprecipitation assays, in HD postmortem cerebellum and knock-in mice but direct detection by SDS-PAGE and western blot assay has been lacking.

To induce antibodies against conserved receptor-binding domain (RBD) regions for protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern and zoonotic sarbecoviruses, we developed mosaic-8b RBD-nanoparticles presenting eight sarbecovirus RBDs arranged randomly on a 60-mer nanoparticle. Mosaic-8b immunizations protected animals from challenges from viruses whose RBDs were matched or mismatched to those on nanoparticles.

Unlabelled: The choice of media and feeds significantly influences the performance of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) mammalian cell cultures in producing desired biologics like monoclonal antibodies (mAb). Sub-optimal nutrient feed/media composition can severely impact cell proliferation and the quality of the final mAb product. For instance, proper protein glycosylation, crucial for mAb stability, safety, and efficacy, heavily relies on cell culture conditions.

Dyshidrosiform bullous pemphigoid (DBP) is a rare variant of bullous pemphigoid (BP) that mainly affects elderly patients and presents with tense bullae formation on the palms, soles, or both palms and soles. This case report describes an 87-year-old woman who was evaluated in the hospital for a month-long erythematous and pruritic rash on most of her body that eventually manifested into tense blisters on the palms. DBP can pose a challenge to clinicians as it can resemble a variety of different vesicular diseases.
